Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You can get some great drink prices here in the south if you keep your eye open and at least the south have to bigger amounts unlike the north...

id somewhat agree with him.......a 700ml bottle of Morgan Spice in the south is at cheapest €28. Up north Sainsburys are selling the same bottle for £12 and a 1 LITRE bottle for £17.

    quite a saving

I just dont know if everyone down south is aware that the great offers people think they are getting here are crap compared to the north! alcohol included! and thats why i posted in the republic bargains section! I think it really needs to be highlighted how extortionate the prices down here are!

I dont know why people keep going to Sainsburys for drink. Off licences in Newry are much cheaper. There's one called the wine cellar beside TKMAXX and Dunnes that undercuts every price Sainsburys has. Another on the way into newry, on the left hand side past the roundabout.

I bought 24 cans of Heineken for 30 euro there.

Were they the 440ml cans? I saw 24 cans of carlsberg (440ml) in sainsburys for £17.60.... special offer though.

The governments response to the fact 250,000 are now shopping up north?

Please don't, think of the economy and stuff like every euro you spend down here keeps the person you hand the money to in a job.

All true but rather than give our money to another country they should lower duty and vat and bring us in line with other European countries.

thats the thing, the stupid muppets have the power to a) investigate the supplier OR who ever is taking the massive cut b) cut the vat rate and duties to stimulate the bleeding market, but by the appoint a com-it-teee to investigate it and do a report it will be 2 years time.

The only place to buy drink at the moment is up North, you can look left, right, up and down and you can't find any bargains like these down here in the South. If you think you can post them up, but to be honest I think either you are involved in the industry or haven't been up North to see the "raping" we are getting down with regards "pricing".
