    Hi,
    Ok, I'm only in 3rd Year (J.C), but I've always been interested in films and film making. I always aspired to be an actor but I just don't think I could.
    What I'd like to do is to be in charge of all the creative, artistic elements of film. So would that be the director or producer or what?
    I love the concept of being in charge of the whole film, the behind the scenes man, but still somewhat famous. Does anyone have any advice for me?
    Should I get a camera or...?? Is there any software out there, maybe for making machinima? If anyone has any ideas, personal experiences in film making, opinions and good film schools, not necessarily in Ireland, anywhere really.

    The Director is in charge of the creative elements on a film, but a producer can influence that aswell.

    Your motivation for getting into filmmaking should not be about the "famous" aspect. Its a career and should be broached on the basis of you wanting to tell stories on screen. (Big or small)

    The first sep you should take is getting access to a camera and some cheap editing software. Then start reading up on the basics of filmmaking and apply them to a few short films you make with friends. Try to improve with each one.

    After the leaving there are a few film courses at 3rd level that will teach you the theory and practical of filmmaking. Its on course like those that you will discover what area of filmmaking you want to specialise in.

    thanks. I wasn't interested in it to be famous, I just thought it would be a perk of the job. Just a few more questions, would you recommend a video or a digital camera and also, is a cheap green screen i.e the cheap sheets you can get + lighting, be worth it?
    And if anyone will be working on a film in the Cork area late 2010 - early 2011 I'll be doing work experience then and that would be great experience
