A curious street sign I came across on my solo exclusive photowalk today (actually yesterday as its now past midnight). I'm sure there is history in there somewhere. Processing probably way over the top. What can you do with a street sign? There's something I like about it and something I dislike about it.

My favourite of the duo photowalk with Kintarō Hattori yesterday (saturday);)

    Only postprocessing done is cropping:p

ACD yours is (slightly) OTT but then again it works even for me because it emphasises on the age of the sign.

Smart photo ACD. There are quite a few old "ward" signs about, Baggot and Pembroke come to mind. Ward was just another name for a street although it does probably have it's roots in the land ownerships of the buildings and therefore it's voting blocks too.

First post in ages (and first time I've picked up the camera in ages...) but it was my cousins 30th so...good excuse :D

Was really happy with the shots, all pretty much straight off the camera (slight wb correction) :)

Wards are the Local Electoral Area boundaries for political purposes dating back years. I did work on these sorts of maps for 6 years and I can't recall if there was a trinity ward anymore but I'm guessing that is probably the history behind the sign....there's some useless information for you!

Yeah your right to an extent Pete and indeed the term is still used for these boundaries, however it was a term used for street too (in a way) in particular streets that were built by a Lord or Baron or what have you that would have owned the land. In this instance the word Ward is used as in "the care of/ owned by". So for e.g. 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam lays out his roads and squares, these in turn are called "Fitzwilliam Ward" as in owned by Fitzwilliam.
