Basically I brought the image into lightroom and applied a bit of this and a bit of that. The rest is a secret

Actually what I done was :

In lightroom I removed all the colour by de-saturating the image.
I then :
Upped the contrast to 100% in order to maximise contrast between the light and dark tones.
Increased the blacks to 100% to enhance all those black tones
Increased the recovery to about 85% to remove unwanted burnout
I then split the tones in my shadows to that blue with enough saturation for effect.
Increasing the fill to bring out the glow in the shadows (sky and water)
Added vingnetting to add to the drama and focus the attention
Finally adding a curves tweek by increasing the darks and reducing the lights to bring it alive.

I might give that a go, i plan on doing a bit of a walk around Dublin and maybe take some shots like that (to get out of my comfort zone:-))
You might see something similar popping up soon on these threads, take it as a compliment :-)
