Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Color or 'non-color' ?

While messing with LR 3 Beta's new presets, I used one of them, can't remember its name, to get the 'non-color' effect.
The photo was done in my kitchen, using a frying pan full of water, and the only lights in use were the kitchen halogen lights, no flash, and I used some books (and my hands!!) to get rid of some unwanted reflections/highlights !! The flower is off a cactus (or something:o).
Which one do ye prefer ? :)

'non-color' (or non-colOUR because we're not all yanks)

Has someone gone and renamed black and white ?

Yeah, me, have you got a problem with that ? :p

I was going to call it black-&-white, but......I was trying to remember the actual preset in LR, but seeing as I don't have it to hand, I called it......'non-color' or is monotone a better word ! :o

Why yes, yes I do, sir !

Now if you'll excuse me I have to off and take some multi-tone heliographs using my opti-capturer.

    Hmpfff.

-edit- I note that DK robbed my hilarious joke, and took the precaution of using his chrono-wrangler to make it look as though he'd written it first ! That CAD !

I prefer the coloured version, but the other non-colour one is just as beautiful.

    Exactly!

Cheers folks, I think the color just about wins it. The experiment started off by trying to catch a splash of water!, but then the experiment gradually progressed to a leaf and then to this flower !

So is that a duotone or a sepia image?

    Arf

    :pac:

Fwiw, I prefer the second - But I'd burn out the stem in the background. I'd nearly prefer it without any toning, or with much much less - And you could afford a wee bit more contrast in parts to bring out the texture that bit more. Don't be afraid of the dark side.

No its a new thing, its tritone, black & white & some-other-tone !

    Thanks, I'll give that a go ;)

They don't call me 'prince of darkness' for nothing ! I actually did very little processing on them, apart from a crop & hitting the 'auto' preset thingy, so I'll re-visit them tonight.
