Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. NEWCASTLE United are delighted to announce that Chris Hughton has been named the permanent manager of the Club, his contract will run until the end of the 2010/11 season.

At the same time the Club has confirmed that it has been withdrawn from sale and is no longer on the market.

The Club had been trying to broker a deal with a number of prospective buyers in recent months however none of those deals came to fruition. With regard to the possible sale of the Club to Barry Moat, that particular bid has now fallen through due to the cash price of £80m not being met.

In confirming the news, Mike Ashley stated that he is totally committed to the future success of Newcastle United and will be focussing on gaining promotion back to the Premier League. Mike will put a further £20m into the Club this week.

Derek Llambias, Managing Director of Newcastle United, said:

"We are delighted that Chris has accepted the post of full time manager. He has done a terrific job this season and we wish him every success for the rest of this season and beyond. He will continue to receive our full backing and support."

    And Chris Hughton added:

"It is a very proud day for me to be named as the manager of this magnificent football club. I thank Mike and Derek for their support and will be doing everything in my power to get the Club back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

"Having the unequivocal backing of the players has helped me enormously and I would also like to thank Colin Calderwood, Paul Barron and the rest of the backroom staff who have never been anything but tremendously supportive to me this season."

Whilst confirming these two matters, Newcastle United now aims to move forward on and off the pitch. The Club aims to maximise its commercial revenues; this includes renegotiating its Club sponsor and kit deal, which expire at the end of this season, as well as welcoming offers for the stadium naming rights for next season.

Chris Hughton has been named as the permanent manager of Newcastle, while the Magpies have also been taken off the market.

Hughton has been rewarded with a contract until the end of the 2010/11 season after guiding the Magpies to the top of the Championship.

At the same time, owner Mike Ashley has taken the club off the market after prospective deals failed to come to fruition.

Instead he is focussed on gaining promotion back to the Premier League and will put a further £20m into the club this week.

Good news, as a Newcastle fan I'm happy with this.
Though I am suprised and was under the impression that Chris Hughton did not want the job
As a very experienced and qualified coach I'm sure he could have taken a managerial role with another club before now if he wished

As for our owner, well promotion looks very possible (ooops, now jinxed :p) so having Premiership status will certainly boost the valuation of the club

    ****ing disgraceful.

Hughton, I have all therespect in the world for, but we now have a manager working for an owner, who is happy for the owner to buy and sell his players. Look how that has worked out for us so far.....

If they don't get a new manager in the summer Newcastle are going straight back down(if they come up).

Word on the street is Ashley's gonna sell the naming rights of St. James to keep the club running. Don't exactly imagine that'll please the Geordies very much. Could be just a rumour though.

because hes a coach, not a manager
because of of our performances since this story began to circulate shows our players attitude towards him
because hes a yes man willing to take the lowest wages in the championship,
because all we need is another puppet when we need someone to stand up to the tyrant in charge
because its opens another chapter in the fat controllers horrible tenure
because hes a decent guy who has done a great job in horrible circumstances
because he'll fail as we are in a false position, wait for 1/2 more to get injured
because he wont fight for players that are badly needed to be signed in Jan

I'm starting to think that Ashley is no longer concerned with running the club or running it as a proper business, let alone selling it, and just likes pissing the fans off in whatever way he can. It's like losing money in a casino to him, just a game, and if he gets lucky, all the sweeter.

I'm a 'pool fan but I wish Chris Hughton all the luck in the world because he's a standup guy and has had to contend with being at a club on the way down and he really will need all the luck he can get with Mike cAshley in charge.

He has also not known his position within Newcastle for a long time now, is he a coach or manager, but has still done the best to his ability to get the team to win and try and get back to the PL even with players being sold from under him.

I for one hope he does, so I can once again visit St. James' for a great match and the fantastic atmosphere.

I have great respect for Chris Hughton and the job he has done at Newcastle thus far has been fantastic. With so few players to work with he has gotten the best out of the players and it shows in our position in the table.
Two successive manager of the month awards speaks for itself really.

I wish him all the best but I fear that Ashley will do the same to Hughton as he did to Keegan.

Great day for Chris but a bleak future for Newcastle United lies ahead.

    Come on gents.

Be positive for Hughton. I know it is a kick in the sack knowing Ashley is still going to be there along with what is being said about the stadium but at least this gives a bit of stableness & hopefully it will see you continuing your good form to get promoted. Hughton is getting the best out of the players.

Usually I'd react to a post like this but tbh I don't care anymore.

Trust me KaG, I think Hughton has been great for Newcastle but I just feel that Ashley is gonna go over his head with regards transfers.

I just think that this injection of money is gonna be a case of "my money, my decisions"

Bleak times ahead off the pitch. On the pitch I reckon Chris will do a great job as he has been doing. I just hope that he fights for the players he wants to sign. He doesn't seem like the type of guy to do it though.

No need to react tbh. It's a flippant comment with a lot of truth to it.

I don't know why you guys are complaining. The man is top of the league and only on £300,000 a year (Roy Keane on the otherhand is bottom of the league and earning £1.5 million).

We're only complaining about Ashley and not Hughton. If you've read the Newcastle super thread the comments towards Chris Hughton have all been positive.
