Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

how dare you attack my post. i am free to say what i want on this. how dare you.

In fairness, as long as he's civil, he (or anyone) can attack the post all he wants. Your umbrage is out of place.

As the phrase goes, 'attack the post, not the poster.' I did not ban Madmullen for what he wrote, but the manner in which he wrote it.

I want to finish by saying this. As a citiizen of the Irish Republic and after given over 5years continuious service to this state i am allowed to give my opinion about an organisation that i have given countless hours too. Have seen no N.C.O turn in for weekend training thats where the frustration comes from. Big man for calling me names.

You are, and other people are entitled to express their opinion, even if it disagrees with yours. They just have to do it without resorting to namecalling or big red font.

Erm.. no, you won't. At least, not on this forum.

Banned. You can try again in a month.

:D Now that's funny, a month in the glasshouse will calm him down. Don't mess with the United States Army:cool:

Whilst I disagree with the way in which madmullen resorted to low level name calling. I share some of his sentiments. There is a structure put in place to deal with a complaint, have a look into it and use it. Don't worry about people going on a bout rat / snitch as if its as bad as you make out I'm sure your not the only one aware of it. Or transfer and on transferring inform your coy commander of the reason you are leaving if you tell him just a fraction of what you put up in your OP he will be like a whale in a paddling pool and you can guarantee big waves being made and people getting wet.

You do however seem to have nothing but negativity (justifiable I suppose considering your previous experiences) regarding the RDF, which is really not going to do you any favours. For example your stupid (yes I said stupid) generalization above. Oh yeah particularly people the RDF are childish...we have seen none of the aforementioned childishness from any other organization or individuals (!).

The old mantra of shut up and put up need not apply if people have the balls to do things. If the structures dont work find one that does and use it.

In my unit many people have had the balls to try and change things but they meet a wall when it comes to R.D.F chain of command and the P.D.F chain of command. All our good nco's become wasters when they eventually realise that their ideas will never been acted on.

It seems the problem with the FCA, and I'm told by friends in the PDF, that there are huge issues with standards from unit to unit.
I served as a teenager, and later joined the Gardai. The training I received varied from extreemly good e.g. searches/roadblocks/firearms, to very poor, e.g. physical fitness.

Unfortunately it's down to who is in your unit, what skills have and if they can pass them on.

I developed a keen interest in firearms from my training, the drills I learnt I still use today, and have done here, overseas and competitive shooting.
I can riddle of my TOET's.

I was very frustrated when exercises were cancelled due to rain etc., but the training has served me very well in my chosen career. I guess the moral is to do a bit of research before joining a unit, and I would always recommend a specialist unit for the gear and training.

And regarding your comment on a good NCO becoming a waster..?! Standards can regress and slacken but a good NCO devolving to a waster seems off to me.

Yeah its frustrating when your ideas hit a wall. I can safely say that most NCOs dealt with situations where they've been nearly crippled by the stagnancy, bullsh!t and beauraucracy. A good one will persevere, stop bitching, grow a set of balls and push through it.
