Just following on from this thread on the Infrastructure forum, it would seem that both the greyhound stadium and horse racecourse in Thurles are to close and be moved to a massive new site about 8km east of Thurles off the M8 motorway. Bord na gCon seem to favour the proposal. I was just wondering, what would become of the current stadium at Thurles? It was always very well maintained (especially since the rennovation in the 90s), but the new "Tipperary Venue" development sounds absolutely fantastic.

I can't see the Tipperary Venue getting off the ground in the next 4/5 years. You wouldn't know what they would do with Thurles, the location is superb, so would be quiet a valuable site. They'd probably have to sell it.

The Tipperary venue proposal is great but is dependent on approval being given for the mega casino. Would be a massive boost to local economy so maybe politicians will row in behind it.
