Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Most of you will know eirebhoy from posting in here.

Well, this morning I was told that he is in critical condition in a hospital in Sydney, following an attack.

I've never met Gearóid, but I've had a few lively discussions with him on here over the past five or so years.

I hope he pulls through this.

I just thought I'd start this thread so he can read it when he gets better, know that we were all thinking of him.

I'd prefer if we could leave it to Best Wishes, and don't start ranting about the person who attacked him. Leave that for other parts of Boards.

As I said, I don't know him personally, but still, his posts on here are always civil, thought provoking and he doesn't get involved in many slagging matches. Always courteous, I like him as a poster.

Get well soon eirebhoy.

edit - Unfortunately we now know that Gearóid has passed away

We have a thread for people to pass their condolences here.

We're also looking for suggestions from posters as to how we might commemorate Gearóid's passing here

Holy crap, never met him personally but as a constant forum presence over the last number of years and a very consistent and passionate poster on soccer Eirebhoy is one of those pillars of the community if you will.

I hope he recovers quickly and all is well.

I myself was attacked in Coogee 2 years ago, I woke up in a hospital bed with no recollection of what happened to me but all I had was cuts and bruises on my head. It really is a hellhole of a place.

Really hope eirebhoy pulls through, very sad news
