Well done on the haul, can't believe that lot was €3.50!

Glad that Spectravideo got snapped up. I was tempted to go look at that myself, never got round to it. Does it all work?

Yeah works perfect (and there's a more common NTSC one with less peripherals and no power adaptor (so untested) on ebay for €500 right now), as does the NES that came free with it! Just finishing up cleaning up everything and discovered the joystick with red buttons we got with the megadrive is for the spectra video. What are the odds?

I probably wont be back to that market again anytime soon. I was just passing and popped in and the guy with all the stuff for 3.50 said it was garage-clearance stuff for a friend who is emigrating. Looks like pure fluke for me.

Glad to hear it all works. :)

The Spectravideo computers are sort-of rare but, forgive me if I'm wrong, if you're looking to flip it I doubt you'll get £500 for it, though I know nothing about those systems and their rarity aside from they were something to do with MSX systems in Europe which, as you probably know, MSX systems command a few bob these days.

I'd certainly recommend putting it up for sale in specialist areas though as you'd probably not garner much interest elsewhere. Either way, if it's a flip, you'll certainly make a few bob so fair play to you for taking the chance on it. :)

edit: Wait a sec, you got a FREE NES with the Spectravideo? Nice one!

Damn, was considering making the trip next Saturday to check out the retro goodness...
I'll just sit in and weep like usual instead. :(
But I'd have to wonder, what else s there that I'm likely to want at the market?
I dont think there is likely to be any consoles I don't already have.
    Maybe some games?
We will see, MD and Snes games are becoming hard to find, lots of PS2 though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 629 ✭✭✭sparkthatbled

The NES was in the pics on the ad, asked the guy if everything in the picture was included and he said yeah. I think he thought it was a peripheral because it was roughly the same size, shape and colour scheme as the tape deck. Feel a bit guilty for keeping my mouth shut on that but i doubt he would have cared, it was his brothers old stuff, not his!

@Ciderman: I was at the same market in Tallaght once before and it was dreadful, there was one person selling ps1 games and wanting 10 each for them. So you might get lucky, you might not.

All tested working now except the megadrive in the 3.50 lot which powers on but no picture.

I was in line to buy the Spectravideo system but when I did get in contact with the guy, the only time we could meet was Friday @ 17:30...I was unable to meet as we had a system failure here in work...Darn it to hell and all.... Good luck with the system........;)

    Hope you enjoy........

    Good week all round......

Just bought a couple of systems.......:p

Photo' as soon as I get them........

Could buy 3 other systems going cheap......have to see what I have left.....Good side is I don't have a credit card....so no Buy now and pay later.....:)

Going to put a bread bin Commodore 64 up in trade section if anyone interested......

Got another PSone, no screen this time...
Got a bunch of games with it too, only a fiver.
Gonna see if I can find an official screen and then sell it for a profit.
Not buying too many more PS1/one or N64s, they are starting to pile up, unwanted :(

Oh, picked up a HP Touchpad in Harvey Norman this morning for €129, that's the 32gb model.
The interface is muck, the response times are poor and it's a second rate tablet really, but....
They are working on an Android, Gingerbread, replacement OS and that'll take care of all that sh1te and let me access to all the apps I want on a pretty fast and well featured device.
Yesterday it was €579 and today €129!
    The 16gb version is €99!
Don't know when or if the other vendors are dropping their prices, Pc World, Currys, Komplett etc, have to wait and see, but they are probably sold out at Harvey Norman already.

Happy with my iPad but for €129 it's hard to shy away. Might try to get down there this week and snap one up. Probably gone though. :(

edit: It's €399 at Currys and PC World for the 16gb version.

edit 2: Which Harvey Norman by the way? Reckon the one on O'Connell Street would have some in?

Hmm, might grab me one of those touchpads for that price.

I mean at that price I can come up with something to use it for.

Ah no, there's a few faves in there. Espagaluda for a start, the original. :)

Omega Boost I've never played but it looks unreal. The copy I managed to get is in absolute mint condition too, looks like it was unwrapped and never played or opened.

As for Bing! Bing! Bingo!, well, that's one of my fave Super Famicom games of all time. So is Cosmo Gang: The Video. The Bomberman tin was a must, I've never seen those little tins before.

It's a third party saturn controller and works much better than the official ones.

Looks like the absolutely appalling MK1 western pads that were discontinued and replaced with japanese style pads because they were so terrible while the japanese ones were so great.

Dont normally end up in this thread but fair play on getting the Nes Boulder Dash

How much did it cost my guess would be €12.95?

I will be honest i gave that game a dogs life in my views towards it but it has grown on me a little bit and well done on owning it

Need to get my own copy back soon (Might be hard as its in Jersey lol)

I'd buy a C64 again just for those 3 Rowlands games. I remember having Creatures and Creatures 2 at 'full price' but they were well worth the £10 each at the time. I only had the Commodore Format cover mount demo of Mayhem though just as I was leaving the C64 platform.

What a fantastic purchase you made. Brings back many happy memories. :)

Got most of this stuff a few weeks ago from eBay and Rage and whilst the Wii stuff isn't Retro just yet, it practically is.

    171821.jpeg

Really enjoying Paper Mario, great adventure and Mario polish, a few flaws but fun none the less. Yoshi's Island on GBA is breath taking, seriously beautiful.

    171822.jpeg

This is the real reason I'm posting, picked this wee Dingoo 320 up from GFLood over the weekend, did me a great deal, true gent. Its not quite a massive candy cab but I'm loving it none the less.

    171823.jpeg

    171825.jpeg

Easily hooked up to the telly (I know its anything but authentic or ideal but its fun none the less) and also the projector although I haven't managed to get that quite right just yet.

ah bit less than that , bit more than I'd like though
(they'd a cheaper unboxed one there as well)
I had a lend of it years ago (my brother had a NES , and my meg died a death while i was in college , so there was a period of about a year or so in 94-95 where the NES was my main games machine)and enjoyed it a lot .
Its a bit cutesified compared to the "classic" look , and the different worlds remind me of the likes of "rockford" but I like it none the less

Someday someone is going to post "Chlamydia" or "Gonorrhea" to the OP's question "Post here everytime you get something new".
Of course, it is unnecessary to say that no photographic evidence will be required, no.
A pdf of the appointment letter for the STD clinic will suffice!! :)

Beautiful cab there Steve Si. Congratulations! :)

    For me, these arrived today:

First up Smash TV, one of my all-time favourite games. I can't believe the nick it's in. Looks like it was literally unwrapped from the box and kept in a vacuum sealed room!

    Usual stuff, NTSC-J, CIB, RC-OCD:

    q7u9c.jpg

Next up, to compliment my SHMUP collection, the complete series of Area 88 on DVD. Not NTSC-J alas, but Japanese 2.0, English 5.1, English subtitles and not SG-OCD but sealed nonetheless!

Bubble Bobble, its like they found some happiness and enshrined it in silicon, one of the greatest games of all time tbh, smashing stuff.
It's on my bucket list of games I want to own in a cab, along with Robotron and Star Wars.

    Hmm, a German Megadrive...
Has it tried to invade Poland yet?

Well it seems to have taken a place on top of my shelves and strangely all the games from every system besides the megadrive have all been thrown into my bin and set on fire.

Could just by the weather thats causing that aswell though

Is there anything more impressive than a boxed NEX collection? I don't go in for boxes from that era myself as I have neither the money nor patience for tracking down good examples but when you see a bunch of them together, my do they look good.

Probably my main collecting obsession is Boxed NES games and consoles. I must have had about 15 NES pass through my hands in the last 6 months, i usually buy em if they have a few games with them, region free and put in new 72pins in the consoles, then release them back into the wild for another 20 years :pac: I keep the games i dont have though so i usually make my money back on the consoles and my collection of games grows! ive about 40-50 boxed NES games now i think.
