You wont find a guy who has greater love for the game than eriebhoy. You knew soccer was his passion but to combine that with his ability to reach out to all sets of supporters is a testament of what he was made of. A great poster to have had here over the last few years. He will be sorely missed.

Most of us here didn't know Gearoid personally, me included, but we also did know him in a way. Every day we'd exchange thoughts and whatnot about the one thing that linked us all, football.

He obviously loved the game.

This is such horrible news. My thoughts are with his family and friends. He was a sound poster on here and I had a great respect for him. Turns out his brother was in my year in school. Small world and a terribly sad day.

I can't quite believe this. I never met him, but he was the backbone of the Celtic support on here as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure everyone agrees.

I'll always remember him as a voice of reason on the Celtic thread when it went crazy after games, he had the utmost respect for every poster who dropped in no matter what. I only wish I could have the same dignity as he had when things got heated.

I'm truly stunned. He'll be sorely missed around here.

I've never posted or lurked on the soccer forum, so didnt know Eirebhoy. But one thing that stands out a mile, is that he was obviously held in high esteem by his fellow posters. Just reading through the thread, and i think he would be extremely proud that he has had such an impact on everyone here.

My dad just told me that he has died and I wanted to come on and pay my respects. Such a heartbreaking and senseless tragedy. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
