    Ladies & Gentlemen...

The looney left has landed ! Ireland hasn't seen anything like this before.

    Newstalk 106 Interview.

    1. Ryanair partly caused the current financial crisis.
    2. We should nationalise the private sector.
    3. We should pull out of the european union.
    4. Trade Union leader salaries are decided by their membership.
    5. We should save money by ending illegal military action in Iraq and Afghanistan ??

... and a load more waffle.

I thought this guy talked some **** back in the 80's but by god he has outdone himself this time.... completely detached from reality !!!

He was also on T W Vincent B and to tell the truth the first question came to mind was what was he doing here?, Vincent certainly had his hands full though he couldn't get a word in endways until Arthur mentioned Stalin and Nelson Mandella in the same sentence, couldn't see what he was getting at though must read up on Mandellas earlier exploits just for the craic!! Anyway maybe he's here to mentor the unions on long standoffs with the government given his history with Thatcher and all!!

He was much better in the later section of the interview when discussing the current British Labour party and his efforts in the past.

But the first half of the interview was laughable. He dodged questions like a true union leader, spouted some nonsense about Ryanair, the EU and Iraq as well as telling us that we should all go on strike. He did the trade union movement no favours with that section of the interview.

Yeah.... he was actually trying to claim victory in that little spat, along with claiming that they had the most efficient coal industry in the world before it was privatised.....

    likely a closet communist...

Well fair dues he did mention some interesting stuff

    like this :

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/sci/tech/4468076.stm

But unfortunately I think it was he who played into Thatchers hands at the time and split the unions leaving her a relatively easy task, strange then that he would show up in Ireland at such a crucial time, not a shining example of united front protest like the unions here need if their going to get anywhere.

A "blue flue" wont shake these boys,Its going to take some real negotiation because unlike Britain at that time we don't have the money to succeed to public sector demands and at the same time we need our public service just to keep the wheels turning, Lenihans no Thatcher but he does have one good ally,"he really really dosent have any money to give"

The problem with the likes of Scargill and indeed Thatcher is that they basically forced each other into more extremes of their own politics. Working together might have been better for the UK in the long run.

He's no Jimmy Hoffa at least.

he also compared himself to jesus , bbc journalist andrew marr once commented how thatcher was very luck in terms of her main opponents on the national stage , the argies while under a dictatorship, scargill and the ira

Method to the madness. No union leader should ever earn more than the people they represent. Otherwise, you get David Begg.

arthue scargill the looney who said britain wanted to close 50% of the mines in britain. oh he laughably got that totally wrong more like 99%, still devastated communities across britain 25 years on (nothing replaced those jobs despite tory lies of job creation)

and yes he is barking always was, who calls a strike when britain had the largest coal stockpiles ever seen
