Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Knavecon is on the 30th, but I'm of two minds about going as it's on in the crappy hotel with the spiders.

How many times a year is it on? I was hoping to go to the next one but beers is more important

I guess the Feb one was so successful that they felt they could put on another one this year.

Wish they'd get a proper website for it though.

    Well, no.
I don't have the legs for stockings and nurses don't wear heels, flats only!

And, in the interests of complete disclosure, I'm a Clinical Nurse Manager on a unit for men and women with an intellectual disability and exhibiting challenging behaviour.
So, no white dresses for me thankyouverymuch!

And on the topic of my workplace you wouldn't believe the day I've had
I could tell but I'd be sacked.
I often wonder if I should have gone to work at something safer, like lion taming or shark dentistry.

Just a reminded, just two weeks until the Beers at mine.
    Saturday 30th of August.
Hope to see loads of you here!
I should have to place tidy and ready, if I start cleaning now!
    Get Atavan's dance pad ready!

There's a fine line with me with these things. Dating sims? Fine whatever at least they're still real people.

I tend to draw the line when people start watching Hentai stuff with children or animals involved.

    Sorry just... no.

I realise that. I'd be able to explain myself better in person to be honest.

The very idea though that there are people out there that genuinely want to watch and play this kinda stuff and would get off on it though... that's when it becomes kinda not ok to me.

A lot of people that are into Japanese culture make excuses for wanting to watch cartoon children or cartoon animals shag eachother.

Each to their own but it's treading a very very fine line as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway let's move away from that topic.

I'd actually love to visit Japan myself... I think I'd just ignore some of the seedier aspects of their culture for my own sanity.

Fine line between what though? I agree that some of the 'underage' stuff is a bit disturbing, but in the end they're only drawings. Ink on a page.

I find the association that kind of stuff has with modern shmups very, very annoying due to the stereotypes it reinforces, but that's about it really.

But sure half the reason for visiting Japan is for the used panty vending machines and tentacle porn :pac:

Yeah I'd really love to go over there myself. So does one of my friends, Might organize something over the next couple of years.

The very fact that people are using animation to satisfy a need that they have that is associated with animals or children because it's the only legal way that they can do it.

It's very simplistic to think 'it's just ink on paper' but those characters are children... or animals... I'm sorry but that's all kinds of messed up as far as I'm concerned.

They're not children or animals though, they're depictions of those things. There's a huge, important difference there as it's victimless.

Just FYI, any image or drawing like that isn't legal in Ireland. So yes, you could actually end up facing prison time if you draw the wrong type of picture. Bizarre, but true.

Edit - just to reiterate, no, I'm not a neckbeard, hentai watching oddball  I just have strong opinions around censorship when it comes to art. Half a decade in art college will do that to you :D

It is not victimless as it's indulging those needs in people instead of them seeking help for it.
