Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sound dampening speakers from floor??

My floor is tiled and sound travels easily through the concrete floor into the apartment below. It's a two story apartment so the bedrooms are right below our living room. I have two metal speaker stands designed for carpet really with metal prongs on the base. So what my easiest and cheapest way to stop the sound travelling through the floor?

    Thanks in advance.

If sound isolation is what you are after then Carpet is your best bet without going for professional materials.

Next if the sound is too bright to your ears (because of the amount of reflections from the hard surfaces) you could include a mat/rug and some curtains.

If you want to use the spikes to isolate the speakers from the floor, you could consider purchasing 2 (or however many) carpet tiles, cork flooring boards, stone slabs etc that you can place under each speaker (incl spikes).

Remove the spikes and get some Sorbothane heel pads, insoles etc and cut them up and put bits between the stand and floor.
