The French guy (Robert Cohen) speach-playing Helmuth heads-up was quite tasty, especially when Phil said that he didn't mean to say all-in. What did he think the mics were for?

that was hilarious.. does anyone know if its on any pokertube-type site?

i've just discovered this thread and am busy working my way thru it. brilliant so far. i'll try to think of a few questions when i'm done reading

A fantastic read Padraig... thanks for doing this.

I'm currently reading the Stueys biography and it's an amazing story. You can't help feel sorry for him, and sorry for the poker world, the way things turned out. It's funny, although I am much more of a fan of Poker, I would have loved to have seen him play Gin Rummy.
Before this book I hadn't realised the skill level or the masses of money that were involved in Rummy. Did you ever partake?

I think all poker players (well perhaps not some of this decades school kid robotic breed) have a bit of the gamble in them.
Did you ever find yourself falling into the trap of gambling away wins?

what is your all time top 11 dream team for footballers who have played in the premiership? u can have a couple of subs if ur particularly stuck in a couple of positions.

the following are hypothetical NHL heads up tournaments where both players start with 100 BBs.

price up each side to a 100% book...

stu ungar in his prime v phil ivey
    donacha v gus hansen
    paul spillane v noel hayes
    ken doherty v cascarino
    flipper v nicky
    hellmuth v doyle brunsen
    yourself v noel furlong
    jesse may v jennifer tilly
    veronique v ciaran corbett
phil ivey v andy black, with ivey playing every other hand blind, and andy having to play having drunk 8 pints.

    Personnel Q's

    1. Any plans to move back to Ireland, if so where?

    2. Vero and yourself any plans for kids, and if so, how would see it effect your career?

    Poker Q's

    1. Is Andy half as good as he thinks he is?

    2. Is Marty as good as everyone else thinks he is?

    3. WSOP main, You have to swap 50% with one of the following

    a) Roy the Boy
    b) Vesty Geoghan

Who and why? Serious answers please.

Hey Padraig, great read so far.

Was just watching some of the 2004 WSOP last night where you had Varkonyi and Doyle on your starting table, you were needling Varkonyi about having his name inscribed on the bracelet :)

    Anyway....

    1) How much do you think you have to making a year to cover the costs of being on "the circuit", ie playing all the majors EPT's, WPT's, and a lot of WSOP events etc??

    2) Do you think it is sustainable without a sponsorship deal and by just playing tournaments??

    3) Who do think the best overall Irish player is at the moment??

    4) How do you think the standard of poker in Ireland compares to other countries??

    5) Who is your tip to win this years Main Event final table??

    Thanks

    Hi Rory
How are the corona lattes going?

game in Dublin was way tougher back then .Too many pros....Scott,Alan;Tom Ryan;Tom Gibson(all guys who havent done a days work between them for years . not a lot of money around

I prefer omaha way more fun.I missed out on the easy nlh money in the boom which was kinda stupid

learn from the mistakes my generation made when we were trying to work it out.

For sure there are less characters around per square yard.Same goes for darts and snooker I suppose

    cheers

    1. Who is the best player that you have played against, that hasn't won a wsop bracelet yet?

    2. How long have you been friends with Jessy May? And did you first meet him when he played in the original late night poker.

    3. What is your funniest story on the Devilfish?

    4. And finally what do you think is the best bet for the upcoming Main Event final table?

    Hi Padraig,

Great read and thanks for taking the time to do this. Always enjoy your commentating.

What bad beat hurt the most?

Were there times when you just felt like quitting in the early days, if so, what kept you going?

In a big event, who would be the 3 players you would rather not share a table with?

What was the worst time you remember a bluff not getting through?

    Cheers

    Thanks

AK v A5 Borhata final table a few years ago probably cost 200K
