It hasnt been confirmed yet if the match is definately on TV. It looks like setanta has the rights for the games at this stage but if all the games are on the same time then the match may only be showed delayed. All this has yet to be confirmed.

    http://www.setanta.com/au/Our-Sports/Football/World-Cup-Qualifiers-2010/

This will be a 7am kick off (melbourne time) so it may be hard to get a pub to stay open or to open up for this.

If the game is not on Setanta, streaming over the internet is a possibility with Charles Dickens pub http://www.charlesdickenstavern.com.au/ an option. If a lot of people call up and they believe they will get a crowd they will stay open for the match.

Setanta are showing the Second Leg live but are not showing the first game unfortunately. At the moment looks like it will only be available through streaming so Charles Dickens pub is best bet.

we should organise a boards beers for that night. if only so charles dickens will stay open!
if we each ring up separately inquiring about it, then they'll get hte impression theres a huge demand!
think of it as a private boardsie bar!

It might be on ESPN, they haven't updated their website yet so I'll keep checking that.

we have foxtel in our apartment. the price we pay for it, so if its not on ESPN or fox sports i might just bleedin cancel it! whats the point paying all that for cricket! its handy tho if u wanna stay up til 3am for the premiership.

also, check SBS2. they've shown ireland matches in the past. The last one being Italy v Ireland in Italy (the one they got a man sent off for elbowing O'Shea).

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,868 ✭✭✭The_B_Man

excellent!! at least i can now partially justify the ripoff that is Foxtel!

i'm in work 9am thursday mornin so might just get up an extra bit early and watch it, as opposed to stayin up all night drinkin, then goin into work! :p

EDIT: Wait, what time is kick off, melbourne time??

double edit: Its 8pm irish time, so 7am melbourne time. have already mentioned it in work i might be half an hour late! lets hope theres no extra time!!

I'm in Sydney and will be watching it at home.

im going to watch it at home too unless anyone knows of any place good to watch. would much prefer to watch it in a pub with an atmosphere. Casino will probably have it on but with no commentary in there I dont like it for matchs.

so no pubs in melbourne are showing it? bummer!1

out of curiosity, how many people in melbourne are now gonna be without a place to watch it?

I just emailed Celtic Club about the game on Sunday Morning. Odd that they will open up on Thurs morning at 6 and not a weekend morning so fingers crossed everybody could get together and watch it in there

I just emailed the Celtic Club and Pint on Punt asking if they'll be showing it. I was in Charles Dickens on Sunday watching the Man Utd Chelsea game and there was a good crowd so I wouldn't mind if they opened.

Celtic Club are not showing it Sunday Morning

"Hi , Yes it is being shown live on ESPN however, due to liquor license restrictions we are unable to open at that time on a Sunday. We will be showing the 2nd leg on Thursday morning at 7am. Doors Open at 6am.

Yeah, I saw the post from earlier in the thread after I emailed. Any other ideas? Really want to see it and would like an atmosphere

I have just emailed Bridie O Reillys on Lower Collins Street about the game.

    http://ltcollinsst.bridieoreillys.com.au/

I watched the 6 nations games (fond memories) there and there was a cracking atmosphere and they had some 5am kick offs so possibly there or else Charles Dickens.

  • Registered Users Posts: 332 ✭✭dave_t

Good stuff. I might email too. Let us know what the response is anyway. I might drop into Charles Dickens and ask if they're showing it if I get the chance.

  • Registered Users Posts: 302 ✭✭Sidney77

I have heard that the celtic club have the game on sunday and its 5 dollars in, you might wanna check, its something a mate of mine told me but im gonna double check

  • Registered Users Posts: 332 ✭✭dave_t

I'm going to drop in Charles Dickens tomorrow and see if they'll show it. I'll post when I know

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29 toffeeforever

I know Celtic Club are charging $5 for entry Thurs Morning. I assume she would have emailed me back if things had changed re Sunday so I doubt this is true but if it is happy days!

Anybody know any pubs that open up for breakfast? Its a 7am kick off. You think plenty of places would be open at that time.

Pint on Punt are not showing it either but are opening up on Thurs for second leg..anybody here anything back from Charles Dickens...

    Sorry,
The only game we are showing is the France V Ireland game on Thursday morning @ 7am doors open at 6.45 am and we are serving Breakfast from 7am.
I think the only place showing this game is the Casino.

Hope this is of some help to you,
