The Swan in Rathmines should be starting them soon.

Although they have been saying that now for six months.

Quick question: Is there any classic films on this Friday and Saturday....and also next Friday and Sat(16th and 17th) ?

    Perferably during the daytime hours?

Nothing confirmed as of yet ToniT.

The Psycho runs stops in the IFI on the 15th.

And there are four more Hitchcock movies starting on that Monday (19th) throughout the week, so your just unlucky with those two days :o

I'll PM you if anything comes up though :)

The Lighthouse may have something on, but they always seem to leave it to the last minute to confirm anything.

Damn! I'm not on Twitter! But if I was I would suggest JAWS and Halloween! Those two are the top of my list to see on the big screen...but if someone had a hankering to show some Carpenter how about Big Trouble in Little China too! And The Fog! Oh man the Fog would be the BEST!!!

I would love to see Blade Runner on a big screen.

It's my favourite film of all time.
Alas, I was not born in 1982...

The Final Cut version went on general release in the cinemas just about 2 years ago. How did you miss that?

    Never heard about that.

Remember the Final Cut coming out alright.
Had my copy ordered from amazon the first minute I could.

    I blame those damned replicants.

Yeah. It first screened at the film festival that year but then a month or so later it was in the cinemas for a good few weeks.

That said, I never got around to seeing it in the cinema then either. I actually have it on BluRay and still haven't got around to watching the Final Cut.

I still have to see it also, but I'm gonna go to the Lighthouse.

I only like Screen 1 in the IFI, Screen 2 is too small and cramped.

Yeah. Hoping to get to Psycho at some stage over the weekend too.

The Screen liked my suggestion of showing Duck Soup on twitter... A Marx Brothers film on the big screen would be amazing.

I'm not a fan of the IFI at all. Wouldn't take much to have that place out the door for every screening but because (AFAIK) its partially government funded they dont put any effort into it!

Never been to the lighthouse. Where is it?

Get the Luas to Smithfield (few stops after Jervis St) and just walk away from the Liffey up the cobblestones. There is a lighthouse actually and it's just opposite that.

    Great little cinema.

Ha. It's a chimney from the old Jameson Distillery.

A light house wouldn't have been much use that far in from the coast.

The Lighthouse cinema used to be up on Abbey Street many years ago...

That's right, the last time I was in it was seeing My Own Private Idaho.

Was a cinema just across the road also, the Curzon I think?

Don't get me started on them knocking The Adelphi :(

Think it used to be the Curzon and then Arnotts bought pretty much the whole street and let the Lighthouse take over running it.

Of course that meant when Arnotts wanted to build a car park, the Lighthouse had no real say in the matter.

I think Eric the Viking was the last film I saw in there.
