I have some washed pine kitchen doors/presses which I would now like to paint. Can this be done successfully and if so what is the process.. preparation/type of paint etc.
    Any ideas welcome.

I just painted an old chair

I gave it a really good sanding down with P120

2 coats of white sealer and primer paint

    Sand with P400

1 coat of 'one coat' satin gloss paint

Was pretty time consuming but worth it

    1 litre primer €17
    1 litre satin gloss 17
    Sand paper €11
    Sanding block €3
    Brush €8

I have a lot of the paint and sand paper left over (for the next one!)

Will post up pics when i get a chance if you want.

I painted wardrobes in simular material as the op. I have 2 suggestions for you.

Go to woodies or the like and get a product called "Makes paint stick" or simular. You paint this on the doors first and then when it dries you paint over it. It does what it says helps the paint stick

I also suggest you buy 1 door in your style of unit and make sure you are happy with the new finish. What i did is went over the paint with clear varnish. It made the wardrobes look very well and they lasted years,

I should have said above that the finish at the moment is a
    hard shiny lacquer type finish.
