    Hi,

    My friend was telling me about buying medical devices online there the other day. Her husband has blood pressure problems so she bought a blood pressure meter online. Not sure if this is a good idea but it is working out a lot cheaper for her.

    I know a few people who buy contact lenses online too, it does save a fortune in the long term.

    Just wondering if anyone has done it and if there are any risks to it? Looking around online I was reading some stuff on the IMB website - http://www.imb.ie and on NCA - http://www.consumerconnect.ie/eng/Hot_Topics/Tip_Of_The_Week/

    PS - this might be the wrong place for this but couldnt find out a more suitable place!

    Cheers,

    T

    It totally depends what you plan on buying... what sort of health needs do your kids have?

    +1 on this. Totally depends on what you're buying.

    I buy contact lenses online for example and save a fortune. I'll be buying Omega 3 fish oils for my kids online in the next few days also. You need to trust the source of course.

    I buy everything above 20euro (including prescription) medicines online.
    In most cases they are 75% cheaper than what I would pay in Irish pharmacies.

    Buying percription medications online and having them posted/shipped into the countr is illegal and as per the site rules:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/faq.php?faq=bie_faq_guidelines#faq_bie_faq_guidelines_forbidden
    Forbidden topics of discussion

    We unfortunately do sometimes find ourselves with a problem regarding some issues and no amount of warnings or requests to keep things civil in relation to certain issues have worked, so we simply don’t allow discussion or posting pictures of these things. The list below is by no means set in stone, we can add things to this as time goes by, so it may be no harm to check up on it every few months to see if it’s changed.

    * Pictures or links to pictures of Porn
    * Pictures or links to pictures showing nipples and/or genitalia
    * Child abuse/under age/jailbait/Lolita stuff
    * How to do illegal things (this ranges from software piracy, to swindling the Revenue Commissioners)
    * Pictures or links to pictures of self harming
    * Pro anorexia pictures and websites
    * Trepanning websites
    * Bestiality
    * Ordering medications online.
