Got $300M in the bank so gonna do this, then buy another A380 with the sell money. Waste of cash just to get an achievement IMO, but thats the game!

The 100 routes from your hub is one mother of an achievement to get! I thought I was doing well and counted my routes, 45! not even halfway!

I know things tend to snowball but 55 is a lot of routes, nevermind 155 for the 200 achievement!

I am kind of torn, I could reinvest my daily income in short range planes (Fokkers, 737-900 etc) to get to the achievement but I would rather stretch out into 777, A330's etc and improve my fleet.

What do you more advanced (in the game)folk do?

Leinster Airlines if anyone wants to check out my progess. (share price €13)

I'm sticking three planes on each new route I setup now from my hub to increase the numbers there. Still have to pay three times for the advertising, but that expense isn't too much of an issue these days.

Does it let you do this? It refuses to accept more than 2 planes per route from me. I've been using the 335 PAX A330s- perhaps its a max pax per route? Dunno......

The biggest planes I've got on the same route so far are three 767-300's and it didn't give me any problem setting those routes up. On my next spending spree I'll try sticking a fourth plane on some route and see what it does, I'm going to have to start shuffling a few planes around to new routes soon anyway as some are now flying less than capacity.

Eventually- whenever I manage to get 100 routes out of my hub...... I thought I was close, but am only at 64 thus far. I went on an expansion binge from other airports (New York, London and Geneva) without thinking through what I was doing. I haven't reassigned any of them though.......

My Airline is GiBBY Airlines but it's sold out! Another good one to invest in is ShAmRoK Airlines, not my own, but I have a big investment in their success - and their still affordable at around $3 per share ;) He's buying 2 x 787s each day now and steadily growing!

I started to add A342s at about the 50 aircraft mark. (Maybe try B787-800 as an alternative, A330/B777/B747 are too expensive at this stage) Didn't get the 100 Hub achievement till I had over 150 overall routes. Expand first then maybe start adding the odd A320/B737 to your hub. The 100 routes will achieve itself eventually. I was able to keep count as all my A318Es/A319s/B737 were from my hub.

Thanks for the stock tip Paul. Grabbing now.

You're a member as you post in this thread....easy!

A great chance to get in early for stocks in my airline (NiceFlaps Airlines). Currently at only 0.13 and plenty available. 5 aircraft so far with another two being added tonight. Am in this for the long haul (no pun intended) so invest now while I'm still good value.

no stocks left to buy :(

bit of a crisis at OMAC Airlines tonight. have 125 jet aircract currently all in the air but when they land I've only 500,000lbs of fuel. While I've about $31 million in cash handy I really dont wanna be spending it on buying fuel at it's current $1,600 price :confused:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 642 ✭✭✭macrubicon

Managed to find it at $400 so bought 75m lbs. Shares took a 30c hit though...

Puts the fleet expansion back a bit but should not need fuel for a while.

Yes I agree the A321 is the best bet.

Might try a couple of them myself.

At the moment my fleet is mostly B737-300ER. Range of 10200 and they bring in about 500k per flight. Would this be considered good, or would I be getting better value using something else?

    Thanks folks.

BTW. I just bought 40,000,000lbs of fuel, so my shares are temporarily down if anyone want to take this chance to get them cheap.

500k per flight is alright. But thats only 1000k a day on routes that length. If you put an a321 on a 5500km route you get about 500k per flight and send it 3 times a day for 1500k. Even better is the DC-10-10 if you don't mind its tendancy to guzzle fuel. The DC-10-10 can get about 700k per flight so makes about 2000k a day.

Nothing official. It was the group name for the Irish Boards Airlines. A previous member posted regular stock updates and we gave each other notice of stock increases so we could profit off each other. That poster is no longer playing and there are now so many Irish airlines its hard to keep track. I thought it strange that a new poster merely put up his logo, then looked at his AM profile. Its funny because after you get the 800K shares sold achievement its no real benefit for you to have investors, unless it pushes up the stock price somehow.

Edit: Sold my Concorde (EJ-FST) after 2 flights as its muck. Made profit of 250K per sector, granted each sector was 3 hours! Far better to have 25 A342/50 A321 instead. Got my achievement though!
Anyway sold it for $357M, used proceeds to buy another A380 and lots (300M lbs) of fuel. Stock price took a big hit but will get back to $60 soon enough. Gonna try for full billboards adverts on most of my 226 routes tomorrow than we're back into an expansion phase.

    Edit 2:

On Monday and Thursday the cost of Billboards goes down to $5000. Same as fuel,it will hop from $400 to $1200 today and Saturday. Keep checking each hour until yo see the price you want.

Potentially 5k for billboards Monday AM and Thursday AM. Best bet is buy 3 days of advertising every Monday- and 4 days every Thursday to max up on cheap advertising.

Shares have dropped from around 18.50 to 16.80 for scudzilla airlines, reason is i'm on a mission to get the 850,000,000lbs of fuel achievement, at the moment i've got 670mill lbs in the tanks, normal service will resume in a day or 2 :D

I would advise you to look at getting a few A340-200. Don't bother with the A330s yet. A342 is cheaper than the B787-800 and gives a similar return. Its a very effcient aircraft. My boom in expansion was based on a 60/40 split of A342/B788.

I would back this up. I went slightly the other way 60/40 toward the 787-8. A great fleet combination in my opinion. I think I may start buying 777-200/Md-11 or 747-300s. Carry over 400 passengers for 11/12 hours so can get it away twice a day.......

    El Coyote Airline

    Coyote’s guide to Airline Manager
I started 12 days ago sold all the shares in my airline 10 days ago for 18p they are now worth €5.41
I have 270mill in the bank and 150mill of fuel.I have not grown as
fast as I could have as I was not online and did not bother to buy planes some days.

I will be posting up a spreadsheet I did up on day two; I would ask that it is not posted on other board.
I did it up for myself and don’t mind sharing with boards.ie but would prefer it’s only there.

I have a different thought on how to grow your airline
This will need you to be online 5 times a day about every 3 hours for 10min.

First the ROI (return on investment) is the most important thing
It’s how long that plane will take to buy the same model, and how fast your airline can grow.

    Starting out
    Day 1
Sell the Boeing you get at the start and buy 25+ ATR 42-500
Every time you launch your planes (every 3 hours or so) use the cash to buy more ATR 42-500 till you have about 100-150.
It can take as little as 3 days to get 150 which will make profits of over 25mill a day after costs (crew/fuel/airport tax)
    Profit per day €25mill

    Day 4
    Next buy 20+ Vicker Vanguard
Every time you launch use the cash to buy more Vicker Vanguard till you have about 150. this can take as little as 3 days
    Profit per day €135mill

    Day 8
Start buying either the DC-10-10 or the II-86
The DC-10-10 costs less but you’re spending time creating routes and will have to remove ATR 42-500 after you get to 400 planes.
The II-86 is more profitable but costs more and your ROI will be longer but you will be making close to 170mill a day profit so
you can buy about 16 on day one and 20 day two and day 4 24 more II-86
    Profit per day 280+mill

If you have questions about the spreadsheet I will try to help
sheet one two and three are the same with diff planes setup
sheet 4 has a list of all Airbus and Boeing planes and how good or bad they are for buying

If you liked this post please use the thank you button and leave a thanks :)

Also which meal choice is best, the cheapest or most expensive.

Don't bother until you have a lot more routes. The dearest choice has a minimum spend of 15000 meals. I didn't sell that many in 14 hours until I had over 100 routes.

It isn't really a great return on your money though (dearest is $22 and sells at $26 so that perhaps $80K profit for me)and doesn't seem to increase your chance of getting any pax points.
