Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I'm trying to replace a sata hard drive on a HP 4300 Workstation and am having some issues. The machine had xp installed on an existing sata drive and the hard drive died. I bought a new drive and connect it and then try to install XP and i get the messages saying that the hard drive is not recognised blah blah....

I had a look in the Bios and I don't see anything in there that I can change, am a bit lost, anyone any ideas of what I can try?

    Ta

    Hi,

It's in the BIOS allright. Look under the drive section for AHCI and disable it.
Think that's it. Been a while since I did it.

Windows XP doesn't have SATA drivers embedded in it, thats why it can't find the drive.

There's a walk through here on how to go around it, i did it a few months back on a friends machine..

i got it finally, i didn't have to go through that whole process in the last post thank God, i saw that previously when i searched the web....

i knew it was some setting in the bios, but didn't know which one, so if someone else has a HP with similar bios, this is what i did, i changed sata emulator from Raid to combination ide controller, and it worked, no idea what i was at, but fixed it, cheers
