That payne guy I;'ve heard nothing but bad things about.

Use Derry O'Malley...I used him to get off the cigs...was off them for 4 years :D
    His number is 1800 611177.
He's a real good guy and I got free backup sessions as well.

back off them now again thank god as I got cocky and thought I could go back off them no bother

    Hi Connect,

Well, I am an ex smoker and I have heard nothing but good things about this man! I know of 3 people (one of them our electrician) who have given up smoking after one session with him. He also does a free second session if needed anytime, (I think), as one girl at work went back 5 months later (she is still off them & she was a heavy smoker!) i dont know anything about the other person mentioned here, except for acupuncture. Good luck in kicking the habit!

When you enter the room is he looking out the front window with binoculars saying, "My name is Michael Payne, and i am a nosey neighbour!" ?

Anyone remember the Paul Whitehouse parody of Michael Caine in Harry Enfield?

I went to this guy in 2001 to give up the ciggies. Paid IR£90 for one session. Left his place hating ciggies. I was so bad after leaving his place that I threw up as the taste of fags in my mouth was disgusting. This feeling lasted all of 5 hours. Later that evening I was dying for a fag and had to have one. So all in all it did not work for me. Rang him and was going to go back for a second session but didn't bother. I gave them up a year later when I found out I was pregnant.
I'd say he is good for some people but not for me I'm afraid.

Dont know how much he charged Zuroph - I know it wasnt cheap but they thought it was worth it as it worked for them, i.e. they stopped smoking for good.

I know of someone who went to Paul Goldin (or maybe his daughter, I forget), it cost quite a bit & they were really disapointed since it didnt work. So whoever u go to, if you stop, its got to be worth whatever u pay!

There are a lot of people out there advertising who hardly know what they are doing, they do about ten different 'therapies', they dont really specialise in anything, so choose your therapist carefully, do your research & go by personal recommendation.

Hey all who read this thread..

I used to smoke 20-30 cigs a day. Went to Michael in mid May 2012 and will be smoke free 1 calendar month on Tues. I'm happy with that and a serious result for me...!!!

Quitting no matter what way you do it is not easy and requires committment from the person trying to quit. Patches, Inhalers, Tablets and me never worked together. Shamefully I couldnt get past the first week.

Today I am strong and tomorrow I will be stronger for getting through today smoke free. Hypnosis made it so much easier however I do need to work with it...

All I can say to the people that have commented previously on this thread that hypnosis therapy didn't for work them or whoever they 'heard bad things' from is... 'Did you/they try to work with it...???' I honestly dont think there is a simple path to quitting...

    BUT...!!!

Believe in the path you choose and you will triumph...!!! Quitting can be done even after 30+ years smoking... (32yrs for me to be exact) Just Believe in yourself and the help from others.

Michael does offer a free session should you stumble... I can certainly recommend Michael Payne from my own experience. (As for the other therapists mentioned I have never heard of them so I cannot comment.)

Please feel free to pm me if you are unsure of anything regarding my reply.

Good Luck to all others who manage to QUIT TOO...!!!

My problem with hypnotherapy is that you never know what they might be suggesting while you are under. Are the sessions recorded or can you have a 3rd person there?

But you aren't really "under". It's not like being under general anesthetic. I was hypnotized once and I remember being totally aware of what was being told to me. Your hypnotist can't - as far as I understand anyway - suggest anything that you would be averse to or unwilling to agree to do in normal circumstances.
You have to be amenable to whatever ideas are being suggested to you.

So how does he hypnotise people?Does he dangle a pocket watch in front of you and say "you are feeling very sleepy"?

My missus recently went to Celtic Hypnosis in Corbally to give up smoking.

I thought the whole thing was a load of shîte. She'd smoke probably 15 a day. She hasn't touched one since and the typical weak point of going out having a few jars etc hasn't made her want one either. Whatever he did it worked anyway.

I don't really believe in hypnosis. When I was in my early teens I had a really bad case of agoraphobia, due to epilepsy. My parents took me to a child psychologist who proceeded to 'hypnotise' me. I can remember sitting in the chair with my eyes closed playing along with the guy pretending to be hypnotised and waiting for the session to finish. Didn't work for me, I sorted myself out eventually. I quit smoking about 8 years ago and it was mind over matter for me. The nicotine patches helped a lot too.:)
