Acceptable time off for childminder

Hi, I was just wondering how days apart from the usual Christmas, Easter and two weeks off during the year is acceptable. My childminder has stated that she needs an extra 5.5 days off between now and August. One of those days is the day before Christmas Eve where both myself and my husband are in work. tbh, I dont think an extra 5.5 days with plenty of notice was taking advantage. However, I think the personal relationship between you and her had broken down anyway. Had it not, you could have suggested a Childminder buddy system which many have now, organised by local Childcare Committees.

This means that if the Childminder is sick/cannot work, another Childminder, approved by you, steps in.
