Web Development Training Courses

Hoping for some advice, and hope I am posting this in the right forum (apologies if I am not).

I am an experienced graphic designer with a background in print - very comfortable in adobe ps, illy and indesign. Given the slow down and resulting free time I suddenly have, it would be an optimal time to venture forth into the realm of web development and add another skill set(s).

Ideally I would like some recommendations on some very intensive evening courses / someone who can do one on one training. I imagine the place to start would be xhtml/css and Dreamweaver (as I am already familiar with the adobe suite). Also any recommendation on flash training would be useful.

I don't mind paying a reasonable amount for the courses, but naturally don't want to be ripped off - however perhaps the most over-riding concern is that the course will not be set at the lowest common denominator in terms of the pace at which it is taught.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

My advice would be to save your money until you've been through http://www.w3schools.com/

There really is a wealth of information, delivered sequentially in a course format. When you are done there, maybe look at a subscription with lynda.com.

Going the online route will allow you to select your own curriculum and set your own pace, as well as being cheaper.Once you've extracted all you can from those sites, you could then look at specialising and maybe doing a course that comes with certification?

Thanks, to be honest I have a preference for getting the fundamentals from a structured course and then kicking on from there with online tutorials / books etc.

I am Dublin based and from my initial research (not a lot admittedly) there does not seem to be that many options, the ones I have identified are:

    IACT
    Pitman Training
    School of Computer Technology
    Big Wave Media Training

Surprisingly few! I have heard some good things in regard to IACT, but they seem kinda pricey, the others I have pretty much zero information about. Any references on the above, or suggestions for others that I may have missed would be most welcome.

I've just been looking at the School of Computer Technology site as I was interested in doing a course too, but holy god would you look at it!

How would anyone want to do a web development course with these guys? That site is horrendous!!

Yeah, while I have contacted the other companies, the design (??) of that site does not exactly shout out any level of competency to me.
