    I know that the shippers buy weanlings at the mart and then send them to Spain and Italy.Here is my question why don't farmers send the weanlings directly to the feed lots? cut out the middle man.

    Why bother. Unless you are a very big farmer.
    Remember the exporting business is competitive too. A few of them got caught for money when some Spanish feedlots went bust a couple of years ago.

    What I cant understand is the price they are willing to pay for Belgian Blue types. I know these are intensively finished in Italy etc. They must get some price there for E's and U's.:mad:

    What I was thinking of ,if a group of farmers or some sort of a co op got together and deal directly with the finisher.I hear that the scotish farmers are going this way.
