would you not be better off with a data add on and log into twitter when ever you want, I don't think twitter updates via text is a sensible move, could get very expensive if there were a lot of tweets..

Twitter doesn't have an agreement with any Irish networks, so you have to use their international text number which is based in the UK. If you want to use the Twitter text service in Ireland, you have to send international texts. You also cannot receive texts.
