New Forum Name!

Insect Overlord

So, certain threads (including several that have been merged with the Acne Advice Thread) have been popping up fairly regularly in the 11 months this forum has been up and running. While I appeciate that skin condition/appearance can definitely be one of the most pressing issues for young people, I find that I've fallen out of love with the "clearasil" connotation surrounding the name of the forum. It's great that people can come here for impartial advice on how to look after their skin, but I don't think that's the topic by which we should be defined

With that in mind, the mods of C&H have agreed that we might consider changing the name of the forum. For the next 6 or 7 days we'll be taking suggestions here, from you, the users, for the new name.

It may be that some people will be happy with the Clearasil & Hormones moniker as it is. If that is the case, we won't have to change things at all

I'll moniter this thread carefully for the next week, at which point the best suggestions will be put into a poll for the user-base to decide on.

I agree with the name thing, when I first came on boards I thought it was a little insensitive, but then I saw the Beer Guts & Receeding Hairlines forum and I thought fair is fair. But younger people can obviously be more sensitive about appearance than older, more mature people.

As for the name, can it be something more obvious? I didn't spot that this was a young adult forum for a few months, and I know a good few people who didn't spot it until it was pointed out. Obviously this will lack abit of creativity, but I don't see anything wrong with "Teenagers and Young Adults" tbh.

In fairness, the poet man did put forward reasons for a possible change, so you can hardly call it "for the sake of it". That being said, I like C&H. That also being said, I'd prefer "The Breakfast Club"

As much as I adore the film, we could end up with the same problem we have at the moment. People see "clearasil and hormones" and automtatically think any question about their skin can be posted here (including the occasional person looking for medical advice). If it were called The Breakfast Club we could have people stumbling in posting threads like "Special K -V- Frosties". If there's a forum for Mustard then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that there'd be a forum for breakfast

A criminal, an athlete, a brain, a recluse and a beauty. Five teenagers end up in detention for various reasons(which are revealed when you watch the movie) and they basically spend the whole day learning that they are bigger then their respective cliques.

It sounds cheesy and corny but its a really great movie. Really honest.
