FFS, it was the era of punk, new wave and ska - and that had to be number one the day I was born!

Scandalous stuff alright.I remember my sister singing the B side to this "Brown girl in the Ring" all the time when we were young.

    19 - Paul Hardcastle

    ...

    Who?

Oh dreadful stuff.I remember this song was released when I was in 6th class in Primary school. We had those student teachers at the time and the one we had was 19 so we made up our own lyrics about her to the "tune" of this song.Innocent days.

Awful pity they used it as the theme for Top of the Pops.

To me, the definitive theme was Yellow Pearl by our own Phil Lynott.

Uk No 1 at my launch was Jumpin Jack Flash by the Rolling Stones!

    So relieved it's something decent.:D:D:D

In the summertime by Mungo Jerry. Funnily enough, I always got "Yellow River" by Christie in the past, so I'm wondering if this website is accurate!

God, it makes me feel old looking at what was No1 when some boardsies were born, I was at college when Do the Bartman was out, and was forever singing Nothing's Gonna Stop us Now while trying to study for my Leaving cert!!!
