Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In todays Irish Independent, its sayes if the following players get a yellow tonight, they will miss the second leg.

    Ireland
    Given
    Mc Geady
    Andrews

    France
    Evra
    Gallas
    Abidal
    Sagna
    Gourcuff
Wow. Given the wet surface and with Duff and maybe McGeady running at their defence, there's a whole lot of yellow card potential for their back 4 missing the 2nd leg.

Damn, so nervous now. But we can do it - am very confident in Trap and his team. Ever the optimist, im thinking 1-0 to us tonight.

Yeh, all the vast majority of them fake, I wouldn't bother.

Someone on Football Focus (Matt Holland, iirc) pointed out that France had conceded goals at home to Romania, Serbia and Austria. Obviously we have to do well tonight, but it's something I hadn't thought about. A couple of yellow cards for their defence tonight and I'd be much more confident going to Paris.

That said, we have to get a result tonight :D

Been a while since I've looked forward to an international match as much as this. I'd take any score that involves us getting a clean sheet, hell I think I'd take 0-0 over 2-1. No point worrying about it though.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

already chewing at my nails here - going to head pub bound at around 6pm and get the nerves good and settled ;)

Would be happy with 0-0, and a bit of scoring wizardy within the last 30 seconds (to prevent us from leaving another goal in too quick), and we're well set :)
What you need is a steady stool that wont rock. My guess you will be falling off after the fifth pint!

As has been already mentioned on this thread, I've not been this excited before an international match since the 2002 WC.

Ireland to win 1-0 and Richie Dunne to score.

I've stuck a cheeky fiver on Dunne to score first at 25/1:D

1-1. We will score inside ten minutes, Hamilton will put his foot in it by tempting fate with the French scoring in a one one with five minutes to go. Word you will be looking for is Merde!

B O'Driscoll on six o'clock news there, asked will the team be watching Ireland tonight and he says yeah blah blah we hope they win or the vast majority do. What did he mean by this? Some northern unionist members of the team or what?

Maybe they just don't give a crap about football. For instance, I'd like the Irish rugby team to do well, but I wouldn't really care if they didn't.

Well they're not doing much for any sort of "Hands across the border" initiative anyways. I wouldn't mind if it was a few small minded bigots posting there (on both sides mind) but they are not doing much for their image by temporarily changing the name of the site to goad Ireland!

Anyway, good result for Slovakia tonight, they only lost two one in Moscow and I'd say they are quietly confident they could do something in the return leg. Hopefully we do not do something similar by leaking a goal to France but of course I do hope we win!

Never been so nervous before a match I'm not playing in. Hope to God we win in Croker at the very least.

Shame they didn't rearrange the word 'country'. They could start by losing the letter o and go from there.
