Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hey guys and gals,

heading to cuba for a few weeks maybe a little less and not sure what to do over there. hotels seem to be pretty cheap alright but seems like a recommendation coud be vital, thinking of staying in havana for a few days and staying in a 3 star hotel and maybe going travel around the island from there?

any of ye guys or gals have any places that ye found as must see spots or even bars?

or maybe even just doing a package deal eitirely?

any advice would be most welcome, cheers in advance

I was in Cuba about five years ago and stayed at the Melia Cohiba Hotel which was along the coast in Havana. I would recommend staying in a hotel in Old Havana as you will spend most of your time there while in the capital.

The tours can be expensive, but you get to see a lot of the Island.

You could also book a week in one of the all-inclusive resorts in Varadero on the other side of Cuba from Havana. A week at one of these would be long enough.

The Hotel Nacional in Cuba is good - its a little bit grubby but its got loads of history. There is a bar called el floridita - can't remember exactly where it is but its one that sticks in my mind (I was there 4 years ago).

So The Freeman, did you go and what was it like?

We're two women off to Cuba for 2 weeks in Jan/Feb. We DEFINITELY don't want to go to the resorts. Several friends who have been have raved about Havana so we will surely stay there for a good few days but the big question now is where else do we go. Looking for advice on this.

Read a previous post that mentioned the camel buses but said they were being phased out. Were they still there when you were there?

    Any advice much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Kitty
