I don't about insect joints, but I like my Irish lifting one.

Maybe in a year or two I will regret not spending huge amounts of money on it, but its doing the job, far as I can tell.

Do you mean a lever belt? nothing wrong with that, little hard to adjust though are they? I also have an irish-lifting belt, its grand, the glue is a little loose in places though. If I was buying again though I'd get a single prong belt as I said earlier, its just handier and easier to get on and off, less pricking about.

Toro power belt is my personal favourite. But the Irish-Lifting one is grand. Theres a couple of them lying around the gym, give em a shot if you want to try before you buy

I don't think Irish-Lifting sell lever belts. I think he means something like this.

You work out all weekdays yeah?

i think the real question is what do you want to do?

Where do you see yourself training wise in a year?

Now this I could get on board with. I remember reading something about the OLAD + metcon type workout.

    Very good question.. :(
I'd call myself a 'program jumper' but I never actually started a proper program. My workouts are just full body-esque with crossfit style metcons.
My long term goal was to learn and compete in oly lifting (amature of course). Kinda sick of the training for the sake of training so I've started to take steps towards that.
In the meantime I think I might run with the one lift a day template untill I know how the oly thing is gonna play out.

Until that gets off the ground (and it will ;) ) you can give yourself a head start. Weightlifters have big squats: back, front and OH - wide stance, bar high on the back, knees out. Ass right down on the ground. If there's more than 6 inches between your bum and the floor figure out why and rectify it.

Less of this high rep malarky, it's not needed. Our goal is to get the bar over our heads once, not 17 times :D

Deadlift by all means, but make it clean grip. And throw in the odd snatch grip for the fun. Won't do much for the lifts but it'll get you used to the wide hand position. High pulls, lots of them. Work on your hip mobility.

Overhead presses, pushes, scap prehab. Again, heavy weight, low reps. Plyometrics too.

Weightlifting is repetitive. Incredibly repetitive. You'll be snatching, cleaning, jerking and squatting, with not much else. If you're a program jumper figure out why - if it's the lack of a goal, then weightlifting will help: there's always competitions to aim for. But if it's because there are some lifts you prefer to others and you don't like not being able to do them all all the time you'll have to curb that. Old school deadlifts will have very little place in your weightlifting career unfortunately, so get that out of your system while you still can :pac:

    Cheers g'em.
See I'm not really a program jumper, wouldn't want to give that impression or anything. I just research a ton of programs, pick em apart and end up just doing my own random thing.
I don't have preferences with lifts as long as their heavy. :D

heavy weight, low reps. Plyometrics?? I'm loving it already! :pac:

Gonna take these ideas on board and move with em right away.
Squatting ATG has never been a problem. Have been using low bar the last few weeks, must chage it back high so.
Have pretty good mobility across the board from my martial art days (used to be able to do the full box splits) + only 5kgs away from a bodyweight OH squat. :)
