Help required

I'm just after putting my PC together(first ever build!).

My build includes:
cosair 550W power supply
asus P7P55D motherboard
4g of gskill ram
ati radeon hd 4890
ITB hard drive
DVD drive
My case is a CM storm and I have a 30" dell monitor.I also have another 22" and 24" but neither are connected
I have windows 7 64 bit cd.

When I power it up, fans start, the power led on the motherboard lights and also the lights on my graphics card fire up. I have my monitor connected but nothing happens? I'm pretty sure everything is installed corectly and when I power it up i have the cd in the drive.
What should I do next? If any one needs more specs or anything just ask.

Do you have power connectors going to the graphics card?

You probably have it connected to the GPU. Connect it to the onboard Graphics first, go into the bios and tell the Bios to use the PCIe Graphics

I have the power connected to the graphics card alright.

There is no on board output (VGA or Dvi)for the monitor, just usb,network cable,keyboard, etc. unless I'm missing something obvious?

Oh ya my processor is a Intel Core i5 too.

Hmm... Make sure the Graphics card is inserted properly and into the correct x16 slot. Or better yet, take it out and put it back in.

Friend of mine had the same problem. Turned out he forgot to attach the 4 pin ATX connector. And that was after me discovering he hadn't the VGA power leads connected either

So, go back through your mobo and make sure everything is connected properly, from the main power connector right down to the little activity LEDs.

Hey again. Thanks for the help so far, I still havent figured this out though unfortunately.

I have the 24 pin Atx power connected and also the 8 pin cpu power connected( I presume i need this too?)

I have my hard drive and dvd drive connected to the sata connectors, I also have my power switch and leds connected just under that.

My graphics card seems to be placed in the slot okay and is powered by 2 6 pin connectors? Here's a pic of the type of connectors:

I'm sure I'm probably missing something obvious and stupid so if anyone has any ideas post away.

Is your monitor set to the correct input source? DVI or HDMI most likely with your GFX card.

Is it making any beeps, Suilen?

Disconnect all the hard disks etc. Leave in only one stick of RAM. Try to make it as basic as possible to rule out as many factors as possible.

How do I check this? settings on the monitor I pressume. Yes I have it connected through DVI.

No beeps, fans start, led on my motherboard is green, but not much else happens.

No idea how to check , its specific to your monitor. google for "switch input" and wotever ur brand/model is. Most have a caption on the screen, same as ur TV switching between sky/VCR/DVD player. Ur motherboard probably has a tiny speaker included in the packaging. As fatguy said, if there is a hardware problem that will alert you to it. one beep= good times.

You didn't say whether the monitor is new or not so are you sure that the 30" monitor itself actually works? Are you able to bring up the OSD for that monitor?

Try connecting with the blue VGA cable as the monitor probably defaults to that unless you have changed it.

Ya the monitor is new and works on my old pc fine, its one of these http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Monitors/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=223-4890

have tried the VGA cable also there but the same result.
