    No. If you're not in a union and you dont show up for work its the same as if you didnt show up for work on a normal day and you can be disciplined.

    My advice to your relatives would be to join the union and strike on the 24th.

    Whilst they may not get any hassle crossing the picket line their doing so will not be forgotten by those picketing.

    And this kind of crap is why many of us have problems with certain members of unions. Just as you have the right to strike your co-workers have the right to not join a union. Giving crap, in any form, to anyone because they walked past a picket is reprehensible and those who encourage or indulge in this should be ashamed of themselves.
