    Does anyone know anything about "Stills Disease"? Its rare. What is the outcome? how long does it take to recover?

    Does anyone know anything about "Stills Disease"? Its rare. What is the outcome? how long does it take to recover?

    Hi Phoenix- Stills Disease (or syndrome) is thought to be the adult version of the more common systemic juvenile arthritis- its not as rare you'd imagine- and has pretty much identical symptoms. Typical features include high fever, rash and arthritis, other features may include an unusual sore throat or other symptoms. The repetitive onset of an unknown illness with a high fever is often used as a characteristic of Stills Disease.

    Normally Stills would be treated with a low dose of anti-inflamatories- there are differing schools of thought in the States and Europe as to better treatment options- but its entirely possible that long periods of remission can be expected when treated properly. Stills Disease would be considered to be relatively benign- when you compare it to typical rheumatoid arthritis (but has many symptoms not normally associated with rheumatoid arrhritis).
