Only watched the final two episodes earlier.. absolutely fantastic!

Shaw shooting Chuck's Dad was absolutely shocking.. as was the revelation of Chuck being subjected to the intersect.

Plenty of LOL moments too, mostly provided by Morgan and Jeffster.

Chuck always do know how to do a superb finale!

    Roll on Season 4!

Speaking of. When Morgan referred to Awesome as "Devon" and his being shocked to attention

"This is no time for frivolities"

    Had me in bits!

A rather excellent end to a great season only marred by two atrocious episodes.
I'm surprised that nobdy on the thread or in the show has asked the obvious question - how did Shaw survive being shot in Paris?

Didn't they something about the African Doc's work from a few episodes ago bring related? I think it was 'cellular regeneration'. Perhaps as Don Ramo says, Orion is still alive...

Excellent season finale though. I've recently started watching Chuck and did Season 1 - 3 back to back over a few days. Have to say I'm loving it, role on Season 4. (Hopefully with a Chuck Vs. Jeffster episode.)

I nominate Samantha Ferris to play Chuck's mum in Season 4 :)

    Or Mary McDonnell?

Samantha Ferris would be a good choice... Torri Higginson would be someone I'd also like to see in the role (although she might be a bit young for the part)...

that would be a good call, she can do both quiky and forcefull acting very well,

i always liked torri higginson on stargate, but i dont know if she could play odd-ball enough for a show like chuck,

i think its safe to assume chucks mom is probably somewhere between ellie and chucks dad, somehow i just cant picture as a normal down to earth person,

I was just wondering today what actually happened to Chuck's mum - thank you show for it looks like you're going to tell me!

Thanks also for bringing back the glory of the first 13 episodes, including the highlight that was 10-13. I had forgotten after a few below-par episodes but this was right back on top form.
I do wish though that they didn't have Daddy Quantum tell Ellie that he'd never leave her again. As soon as I heard that I waited for him to be shot. Way to ruin the shock value!

Everyone was on top form here - we even got Jeffster providing the music for the final fight. Not sure where they'll be employed next year - Subway maybe?

Lots set up for a fourth season now, so definitely something to look forward to.

    :(

Lowest ratings of the show ever.

Episode 18 - "Chuck Versus the Subway" received the lowest show rating of 1.7
Episode 19 - "Chuck Versus the Ring & part II" only received a 1.8 rating.

This seriously needs to pick up next season to get a back 9 ordered!

Was it up against some other big finale?!

Why is the show getting such ratings and so much utter crap is getting higher ones?! What's WRONG with people!!

The first hour was up against:
ABC Dancing With the Stars - 19.08 Million Viewers
CBS How I Met Your Mother (Season Finale) - 8.18 Million Viewers
    FOX 24 (Season/Series Finale) - 8.39 Million Viewers
CW Gossip Girl (Repeat) - 0.90 Million Viewers

'Dancing With The Stars' although it was it's lowest of the season still is getting respectable ratings, and the season finale of '24' probably hurt it also. In the second hour, it was up against:
CBS Two and a Half Men (Season Finale) - 15.37 Million Viewers
ABC The Bachelorette (Season Premiere) - 9.94 Million Viewers
    FOX 24 (Season/Series Finale) - 9.31 Million Viewers
CW One Tree Hill (Repeat) - 0.57 Million Viewers

Reality TV muck and tired comedic muck won out the second hour.

It was up against fairly stiff competition to be fair!

Bit of a no-win situation up against the 24 series finale but that won't be a problem next year.

That wouldn't explain it if DVR numbers were tabulated - which I am genuinely confused as to whether they are or not (some accounts say yes, some say no - and they seem to come from similarly reliable sources!?)

No they weren't included in those numbers. The DVR viewing numbers are released several weeks after the live viewing numbers. However they don't matter as much as the live viewing numbers because the majority of people fast forward over the adds, so the advertisers care a lot more about live viewing than DVR viewing.

The tide is slowly changing there, as can be seen in Chuck with massive product placement instead of spending money on the ads.

Yeah, I'm sorely tempted to fast forward through Big Mike scenes these days. I used to be cool with it when they'd incorporate Subway into a joke or even make a joke around it, but they've stopped even trying and now just basically interrupt the program for an ad, which makes me much less likely to buy a Subway sandwich.

Does anyone know what ads they show in the breaks in Chuck? What seems to be their target audience for the show?

Nothing like the sight of an obese man eating a Subway sandwich to make you want to go out and buy one.

Didn't they spend years and millions promoting the slimming effect of their sandwich with that Jared gob****e?

I seem to recall that one of the main reasons we got a third season was due to a massive advertising deal with Subway. If watching Mike drool over a sub is the price to pay for 19 episodes of goodness then I'm sold and I'd even buy a sub sandwich.

    I imagine it's the 18-30 demographic.

It seems that Orion was a spy that didn't answer to any government... he just did the things that needed to be done in the name of good! lol

Did anybody else notice that the " Alpha " Intersect was running on a Mac SE.....

And if you look the Version 1.0 or 2.0 Intersect they have a Mac SE sitting on top as the monitor :pac:

Only just managed to see the finale there, and wow.

Seriously well done and looks like next season we might have Chuck acting autonomously from the CIA (like his dad) as well as Casey and Sarah. Will be interesting trying to see him keep the secret of his dad's research for as long as possible.

    Can't wait for season 4 now :D

I remember seeing somewhere before that most people using a dvr (for some reason I think it was sky plus specifically) didn't skip the ads.

Just watched seasons 1-3 in the last week or so and it's a great show, but I feel like it's going a little bit down the Dragonball Z road. :pac:

I thought the finale was pretty good, Buy More is no more (thank god), i guess the producers can cut three more characters off the payroll then?...Big Mike and those two Jeffster idiots (they'll be on the run for the bombing i guess).

Everything is out now, everyone knows about Chuck....so i guess Elle and Awesome will become spies too, in fact his whole damn family and friends...sure, why the hell not?....the CIA hires all the time, even Chucks dog can get a job as a spy.

And daddy Bartowski was upto some shennanings in a basement huh?....who's the mom?, Mary McDonnel my money is on!, she works for The Ring i guess?

Good finale, but Chuck is venturing more and more into farce/agent 99 territory....lets all admit that.

remeber that film get smart with steve carrell, which was also a series once upon a time,

why go to the bother of watchin 3 series of a show and then hate it, i think if you dont like jeffster then i dont think thos show is for you,

personally chuck is one show that just seem to get better and better, sure some stuff wont make sense, but thats part of any show, even the premise makes no sense "a regular guy gets a goverment database downloaded into his head",

yet we will always root on team bartowski, and the jeffster:D

It's not exactly on the same scale as The Wire or Dexter in terms of complexity, but that's not to say that there isn't a lot to learn from the first 2 seasons - there's plenty you could learn from it about character development and whatnot...
Even if I was to start watching one of your tween shows (not that intent to), I would watch from the very beginning... It's the only way to truly know exactly what's going on...
It's like people who started watching Lost in season 4 and then started picking at holes in the plot and giving out about storylines and characters - what I said to them was, 'until you watch it from the beginning, as far as I'm concerned, your opinions on the show are null and void'... and the same goes for your opinions on Chuck - when you watch the first 2 seasons, I might hold some value in what you're saying..
But seriously, who doesn't like Jeffster???

    ;)

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Please....you say that like Chuck is a complicated story, it's not...it's NOTHING like Lost or any of it's ilk. It's a very simple show to grasp, there are no hidden depths or plot twists or arcs that require lot of brainpower, it's not Dollhouse.

Me thinks Chuckities defend this program too much, thus proving it's not quite the "high quality" tv it's touted as.
