I had a gas boiler give me problems recently, pump needed to be changed, 400e. 1 month later, noise from boiler again, same company out to look. Was told heat exchanger gone, 360e, another 2 problems iminent, 120 and 125e to repair then system flush out required 600e. But the nice people at this gas company had taken the liberty of pricing a new boiler for me and could supply and fit it for 2000e. Very efficient of them i thought. Got a second opinion from another gas boiler specialist as mine was less than 7 years old and should last 12-15 years. 60e to tell me nothing wrong with my boiler! money well spent. I just wonder did my pump need to be changed at all.
Apparently, hard up businesses are exaggerating problems so as to maximise earnings from customers. Beware!

I had problems with my boiler and got someone in to look at it, it was only 2 years old at the time and I was told heat exchanger was gone.
Told me it would cost big money so I put it off for a while.

I rang the maufacturers and tho the warranty was up they gave me a number of a man that used to work for them that does be in my area.

He came out next day and it wasnt the heat exchanger at all, the pipes in the boiler were just clogged up so he cleaned them out and it has been fine since.

Best of all he only charged me €20 because it only took him 5 mins!! That after paying the other lad €60 to look at it and tell me the heat exchange was gone!!

So I would say it is quite possible it wasnt the pump that was gone in yours.

    Some cowboys out there!!
