Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Unfortunatly I'm in Ireland of all places this week as opposed to home in Paris. If I can get remote connection to my PC then I'll set up a stream (it'll be a streamtorrent stream) of the game.

Of course I can't say for sure but I wouldn't imagine that there'll be the usual amount of streams for this game. It's often very difficult to source streams for matches which are only shown on French TV.

    Doubt that will happen

Murrays on O'Connell Street have confirmed it http://www.murraysbar.eu/sport/ and The Living Room on Cathal Brugha Street http://www.thelivingroomdublin.com/frazers.htm

What English football ? Do you mean Champions league - if so they pay peanuts in comparison to the €1.5 Million the French want for a one-off game but the FAI shot themselves in the foot so I have no sympathy.

I'm sure they will come to an agreement. Right?

the FAI shot themselves in the foot for selling to the highest bidder? This is the French being arrogant pr*cks because their bosom buddies didn't bid enough and they want a scapegoat.

It was reported on Off The Ball on Newstalk earlier this evening that RTE are "very hopeful" of concluding a deal tonight to televise the match.

Don't know anything more about it, just quoting what I heard on it:)

My understanding is that the greedy gits just grabbed the €5 Million from M6. The reasonable thing to have done would have been to negotiate with TF1 (French FA partners) tell them about the €5m offer and see if something could have been worked out. If they had of done that then they might not have been in such a bad situation now. Either way I really dont give a toss as I will be watching it off of satellite anyway.

Yep, Tony O Donoghue was on the news earlier saying a deal was hopefully being completed tonight.

Just noticed that Digitalb are showing the other 3 qualifiers live but not the Ireland match. That is unfortunate as many people here have Digitalb for the premiership.

Imagine knowing that ****e like Republic of Telly is on the TV and we might not be able to see one of the most important matches in history for this country.

    Tis a crazy world

I hope he's right. In fairness, RTE would be very unlikely to have their own sports reporter saying something like that if it wasn't true.

i must have a different understanding of the world 'hopeful'.

I think we're all hopeful, extremely ****ing hopeful that it will be on terrestrial tv. I can't do anything about it though, no matter how hopeful I am.

Well I think it's a political hopeful, i.e. pretty close.

maybe I'm wrong, but my understanding is that under EU competition rules it's not actually legal to do this. It undermines the tender process and would look like favouritism in court, no?

RTE had up earlier that it was a non-exclusive deal they signed which has actually now been removed from their site. The deal obviously involved Sky who must have payed perhaps 30-50% of the fee.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

"Live television coverage of the game will begin at 7.20pm on RTÉ Two, as Bill O'Herlihy is joined by John Giles, Eamon Dunphy and Graeme Souness for pre and post match analysis and debate. "

Okay thanks, have not seen anything about sky yet. Looks like they have kept the slot free in the schedule anyway http://www.skysports.com/tv_guide/0,19953,,00.html Just makes it easier to watch it here in the UK

We will win now for sure :p

I reckon we can get them to pens with a lot of luck and we'll be havin' a lovely party summer next year hopefully!

Shall be some celebrations to be had on Wednesday night if we do it.

I was listening to a reporter on Newstalk last Friday who said our penalty-taking skills left a lot to be desired in training that day! Still, I'd love the chance!

Sky Sports was showing in most of the sportsbooks when I was there in April.
Was definitely able to see Chelsea v Liverpool and Porto v MUFC games in the Mirage and Treasure Island sportsbooks (not exactly a pub obviously, and no sound).
