    Hi all
Getting married the 27th of this month and heading up north for a few days for a quick honeymoon (4 day break) We are booked into a Hotel in Kilkeel Co Down for the 28/29 ,
But we are in no rush to get to hotel till late-ish , anyway we have decided to drive up (once past dublin ,) using the coast road
Anyway my question is it possible to drive from Omeath to Warrenpoint staying beside/on the coast or do you have to go into Newry
(Cannot see any minor/ back roads by coast on goggle ,road just seem to run parallel with Warrenpoint road into newry )

Also any suggestion of interesting or locate spot we should checkout would be more than welcome .

    Thanks

You have to drive into Newry and then on to Warrenpoint, a journey of about 12 miles. They have been talking about building a bridge at Narrow Water for some time now, though they will never get round to it.
Warrenpoint is a nice enough place to stop. Some decent restaurants.

Lovely drive. Restaurant 23 in Warrenpoint looks like it may be worth a stop.

Beautiful scenic drive from Kilkeel to Newcastle around the Mourne Mountains if you've an hour or 2 to spare. Some fantastic walks too. Tollymore Forest Park in Bryansford is spectacular and also worth a visit. Let us know how you get on & enjoy!

And don't forget to fill your car with booze from ASDA when you're in Kilkeel.:D

+1 for Tollymore Forest Park, well worth it even with the time of year. Depending on your route home SIlent Valley reservoir is nice too.
Obviously if you are coming from Waterford then your best bet is to take the Carlingford exit off the M1 and take the coast road to Omeath right through the Cooley Peninsula, Sliabh Foye is well worth the wee spin up, its halfway between Carlingford and Omeath.
