Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
heading over in Feb for a week-end. Thinking of staying in one of the IBIS hotels. One is on University Street and the other is on Castle Street. What are those areas like, is one nicer than the other ?

    Thanks,

    M

University Street is a better area (near QUB) and within easy access of the city centre. Castle Street is in the city centre, but not a great area.

I would choose the Ibis on University Street...Botanic Gardens is nearby, nice park for a wee stroll...plenty of nightlife around there...only about a 20-25 minute walk to the city centre shops!!!
The Ibis on Castle Street...it's right beside all the shops...but maybe a 10-15 minute walk to good nightlife through an area of closed shops in the evening!!!

yeah good nightlife near university st ...... if you like student bars!

Castle St is in city centre, so close to everything that is in city centre. Its about 2-3 minute walk from probably the most famous bar in Belfast (crown) and theres plenty more within a few minutes.

Do we know what age Munster M is??? For all we know he could be student himself!!! :D

Many students go home at the weekend at Queens...so the area isn't really that swamped with students at weekends!!!

Plenty of bars and restaurants around University Street to suit all age groups...bar-wise from Madisons to The Empire to Scratch to The Bot (downstairs or upstairs)...restaurant-wise Tony Roma's to Villa Italia!!!

I actually prefer the university area to the city centre bars and I'm 30!!! Different strokes for different folks!!! :p

MunsterM could take in the Crown Bar and the odd city centre bar during the daytime whilst shopping!!!

Stilll say Ibis on University Street would get my custom!!! :D
