Suas Educational Development is recruiting 11 team leaders to join our Coordinator Management Team for the 2010 Volunteer Programme.

Our vision at Suas is a world where all young people are given the opportunity to realise their potential to effect positive change in our society. The Coordinator role provides a unique opportunity to be part of this vision, gain valuable leadership and team management skills while working in partnership with dynamic organisations in India and Kenya.

As a member of the Coordination Team you will play a vital role in the successful implementation of the Programme. Working closely with the Volunteer Programme team in Dublin, Coordinators will support and coach volunteer teams through the pre-departure preparation (February – June) and overseas work placement (June–August). They will act as the liaison between the Dublin office, volunteers, and the Partner School, and play an integral role in co-designing and delivering the placement.

This position will involve training and practical experience in the following areas: leadership & team building, project cycle management, crisis management, facilitation, and Development theory & practice.

Apply for a Coordinator position by Monday 30th November

    COACH. TEACH. LEARN.
Join the staff and children of our Partner Schools who believe in education as a step to a brighter future. Next summer could be your opportunity to work together to make a difference.

The Suas Volunteer Programme provides an opportunity to volunteer in a community-based education project for ten weeks, while learning about different cultures. It offers the possibility to develop personal and professional skills, to work in a team, and to learn about the challenges and opportunities of Development in our interconnected world.

    What does the Programme involve?

Training and Preparation (Feb - June): Including preparation weekends (teaching skills, language, project management, Health & Safety), and full support while you fundraise the participation fee (an experienced fundraising mentor per team, materials, resources, training and more..)

Overseas Work Placement (June – Aug): a 10 week placement working for one of our Partner Schools in India or Kenya. Volunteers work primarily as teaching assistants but also engage in various other activities including research, curriculum development, & IT support. The Programme also involves a unique opportunity to learn about Development through on-going NGO visits and a week of in-country workshops facilitated by the UN.

Return and Closeout (Aug - Oct): A debriefing weekend in October gives Volunteer teams a chance to talk about their experience, to celebrate their achievements, and to look forwards and ask what’s next?

Application Deadline – Monday 21st December
