Uncharted 2 v MW2 for game of the year

Can I ask a question at this point?

Is there anyone who has voted but hasn't played both games?

Coz it's kind of pointless.

If you weren't crazy on it don't get MW2. It's like COD4's fatter, louder, more obnoxious brother.

Havnt played uncharted yet, planning on getting it and the orginial and play them over christmas.

But if this is just going by the single player then I don't see how MW2 has a chance... Its just more of the same from cod4 but this time lacking in some great moments like the sniper mission or the nuke sence from cod4.

Hands down, Modern Warfare 2 wins...Single player in Uncharted was better..But at least Modern Warfare was tougher than Uncharted, as Uncharted was pretty easy..

Online definately Modern Warfare 2, truly one of the best online games I have ever played but I think MAG should be fit to top it...It is kind of obvious that Modern Warfare 2 will be the Game of the Year this year as it is Multi Plat..

Uncharted had awesome story, so did Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted let me down with the online..

Ok so I limited the poll to my most anticipated games of the year but then again, there really was very little else to even consider putting into the poll. I thought about "Dead Space" and while it was a great game to play, I haven't gone back to play it again which to me is the true test of an outstanding game. For instance, once I finished Uncharted 2, I went and played through Uncharted 1 again, and then repeated U2 again after that!. COD4 had me playing online until 2 or 3 in the morning (I get up at 6am :eek:) for months but I got sick of those muppets mouthing off on mp. As for MW2, to be honest, it just got boring while playing through the single player campaign and didn't have me "hooked" like Uncharted 2.

Finally, I too am looking forward to Left 4 dead 2 as the first one is as close to being in a zombie movie as you can get. Brilliant fun online and I only paid €17 for it in a STEAM sale last May. Best value game I've bought in ages, until Uncharted 2 that is.

Left 4 Dead 2 I don't think so! the gameplay is fun but not much difference from the first one...

Having finished both single player modes, and played a decent bit of multiplayer in both (rank 20 in Uncharted, only rank 13 in MW2 so far) I would consider Uncharted 2 the better game.

If you were only looking at multiplayer, at the moment I'd say MW2 has more longevity. U2 is a lot of fun online (simple, to the point, shows the strengths of the combat system far more than the SP), but the huge amount of variety, perks, challenges and maps in MW2 seems to suggest that there is much more to do, and it'd keep you busy and distracted enough to motivate you higher up the ranks. Both a lot of fun, but in my experience MW multiplayer is top of the (console) online FPS.

However, the single player in Uncharted 2 is the most fun I've had in a game in quite some time. It is a brilliant piece of storytelling, with glorious set pieces, engaging characters, witty script and accessible but rewarding gameplay. It is story driven action gaming at its purest. MW2 is solid in SP for sure, but it simply feels like a bunch of random set pieces shoved together into something that barely even pretends to be a coherent narrative. Yes, there are inspired moments

(the bravery of the airport level, the pounding conclusion and those moments when you truly feel like you are part of a huge battle)

but at the end of the day it is often just another mechanical shooter. A hugely competent one at times, but just a variety of cool levels. Uncharted 2 feels more like an adventure, a story and something I just didn't want to end.

Luckily, we are able to play both games, but if I really had to choose one, Uncharted 2 would be my choice. It isn't quite my game of the year (well up there, though), but it is certainly a fantastic piece of software.
