Got a van the other day. Just wondering, can I park in loading bays for free (even though im not loading/unloading) and if so, can I park there indefinitely?

Also, can I park in the loading bays on saturdays too?

    Ta!

As far as I know if you have commercial tax you can park in a loading bay for 20 minutes. As to whether you can park on a Saturday you would need to check the signs. Anyone can park in them outside of the designated times.

some commercial vehicles chance it but ive often seen vans clamped in loading bays so do it at your own risk...
normally is purely for un/loading purposes
but heres a piece on loading bays from dublin city council web site

    LOADING BAYS

No parking during the hours indicated on the street sign. This usually lasts from 7.00am to 7.00pm, Monday to Saturday.

    EXCEPTIONS

Vehicles with a goods tax disc can park in a loading bay for a maximum of 30 minutes while actively loading or unloading.

That's the important bit. I was stung a few times when I was a merchandiser in Dublin City Centre.

I was a van driver many moons ago. I use to park in loading bay for 30min while shopping bring stuff back and drive to another loading bay and repaet for an hour or 2. Great if you have a lot to buy :)

    Happy parking :)

Look for the hours signposted on the loading bay, once you're outside those hours, you can park there for as long as you want.
