    "World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on November 14. The World Diabetes Day campaign is led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and its member associations. World Diabetes Day was created in 1991.

    November 14 was chosen because it is the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, first conceived the idea which led to the discovery of insulin in 1922."

    Today is the day that I thank God and the universe for Fred Banting & Charles Best's birth and the discovery of insulin. I would have been gone from this world a long time ago if they had not persevered.

    I also spare a thought for the people with diabetes who are not as lucky as I am. The ones who have lost limbs, sight, have kidney disease, among other complications and for those who never get a break in the uphill struggle.
