Eagles - Hotel California from Hell freezes over.
Lindsey Buckingham - Time precious time.

Coldplay - Sparks. A personal favourite acoustic song of mine.
I absolutly love their first album 'Parachutes'. Pity I can't say the same for the rest of their stuff!

Bob Dylan/Nirvana/Oasis Unplugged - all excellent albums, purely acoustic stuff. The Cure had a bonus disc in their Greatest Hits which was just an acoustic session of all the tracks on the album.

As for specific songs; Avalanche by Leonard Cohen, Idiot Wind by Bob Dylan, River Man by Nick Drake.

Nick Drake's Pink Moon is a great acoustic album. Also, as mentioned above River Man is an incredible track, one of my all time favourite songs. Other acoustic songs:

Bright Eyes - Lua & First Day of my Life
Bob Dylan - Girl from the North Country
Mumford & Sons - Timshel & After the Storm (their whole album is amazing actually)
Bonnie Prince Billy - Lessons from What's Poor
Iron & Wine - All their stuff is great, but The Trapeze Swinger & Fever Dream are songs to check out.

I could actually go on all day about acoustic songs, so I'll leave it at that :P

"in acoustic version" - do you mean any type of song with any kind of instrument that was then reduced to acoustic instruments?

    My favourite for both being great, and sheer how-the-****-did-they-think-of-that-and-pull-it-off?-edness;

Bell Orchestre doing Aphex Twin's Bucephalus Bouncing Ball (okay there's a lapsteel and some electronic gear to the right, but it's still pretty ****ing acoustic!!)

I'd second Extreme's More than Words

Mr. Big - To be with you

Led Zeppelin - Thank you (Chris Cornell does a particularly nice acoustic cover)

    Oasis - Cast no Shadow

    Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
