Love that flick Johhny Depp and Benicio Del Toro are brilliant in it, love the scene in the hotel room when it all goes pear shaped

I loved it too. Even so I felt it was done in a tongue in cheek way for effect - that was until I went to see the docu on the guy in the IFI and realised how exact the movie actually was.

If you haven't seen it - it's a must watch also.

Yes - I have a soft spot for Hudson Hawk, but it may be because I saw it years after its release. I also liked Waterworld, which kinda bombed at the box office (as well as with critics), but isn't on the list because it's more than made its money back since release.

Others include the first Charlie's Angels, Jackass: The Movie, and about the only rom-com I like, One Fine Day (with Michelle Pfeiffer & George Clooney). I know many critics liked Buffalo '66, though not many ordinary movie-goers seemed to get it. :P

PS: if we're going to talk about Schwarzenegger films, I must put in a good word for The 6th Day. It's not just a cracking action film, it also tackles some deep philosophical questions, and has a cracking Trevor Rabin soundtrack. How far away are we from ads like this on late night TV?

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

.....I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire...

    Rocks

if ya played the hitman game the film was a HUGE let down. went totally off the story. made him an orphan instead of a clone. things like that.made no sense if ya go by the games.

    - Shoot Em Up (2007)

Loved this - friends of mine said they turned it off before the end

    - In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2007)

Not so much enjoyed this one as watched in wonder at how bad it was - Jason Statham throwing a boomerang at a crow trying to steal his turnips. Ron Perlman promptly strolls past and tries to swap a pig for some turnips - too many great plot lines to mention. $60m wasted by director Ewe Boll - he should be jailed for crimes against the film industry.

As others have mentioned +1 for:

    Lost in Translation
    Multiplicity
    Beetlejuice
    Office Space
    No Country for old men

    and would add:

    The Life Aquatic
    Fargo
    The Cable Guy
    Big Trouble in Little China..

    Still Crazy

Most people write it off as a BBC TV movie with a bigger budget or a lesser Spinal Tap but as a musician especially I thought it was one of the funniest and most heartfelt films on the topic I've seen.

    .

Can't understand anyone liking this. It's like half a movie. There's no meat to it. No plot. No point. No 'moral of the story' even.

Don't get it, which is why it's perfect for this thread I guess :D

Gangs of New York- Everybody i've talked to thought it was crap and inaccurate but it's my second favourite Martin Scorsese film. I just loved everything about it but what stood out for me were the characters. You sort of like and respect Bill The Butcher in the film despite him being rather racist and anti immigrant I.E anti Irish. Daniel Day Lewis was flawless in this film. The other charcters in it were cool too.

Day Lewis was his usual amazing self. Everything else sucked. Especialy Leo.

I think Alien Vs Predator 2 was freaking awesome. Seriously I thought it was great

Saturday Night Fever for me, one of my favourite films of all time, it's only ever remembered for the soundtrack which is a shame because it's a really good drama, not some "dance flick".

    oh and

City Slickers 2- The Legend of Curly's Gold
Just an all round fun movie.

    Sexy beast

    Sexy Beast is great!!!
    Gal: I'd be useless.
    Don: Useless?
    Gal: I would be.
    Don: In what way?
    Gal: In every ****ing way.
Don: Why are you swearing? I'm not swearing.

Which is hilarious because of this:
Don: Shut up, ****. You louse. You got some ****in' neck ain't you. Retired? **** off, you're revolting. Look at your suntan, it's leather, it's like leather man, your skin. We could make a ****ing suitcase out of you. Like a crocodile, fat crocodile, fat bastard. You look like ****ing Idi Amin, you know what I mean? Stay here? You should be ashamed of yourself. Who do you think you are? King of the castle? Cock of the walk?
    [He gut-punches Gal]
Don: What you think this is the wheel of fortune? You think you can make your dough and **** off? Leave the table? Thanks Don, see you Don, off to sunny Spain now Don, **** off Don. Lying in your pool like a fat blob laughing at me, you think I'm gonna have that? You really think I'm gonna have that, ya ponce. All right, I'll make it easy for you. God knows you're ****ing trying. Are you gonna do the job? It's not a difficult question, are you gonna do the job, yes or no?
    :D

And my favourite quote from the film:
Gal: I am going to have to turn this opportunity down.
Don: No, you are going to have to turn this opportunity yes!

    Brotherhood Of The Wolf

    The 13th Warrior

    Jeremiah Johnson

    A Lot Like Love

    Serendipity

    Mr Smith Goes To Washington

Not to mention a whole heap of other movies that people I know won't watch or dislike because they are too lazy to read subtitles.

I have an odd one for you; Congo.
I think it's a really crap movie, but I love watching it anytime it's on. It's like an exact remake of some obscure black and white movie from the forthies but updated by colour and gadgets. Oh and the talking Gorilla Amy, "Amy good Gorilla". It's so bad, it's brilliant!

I hated "The English Patient" while everyone loved it, ditto for "Legends of the fall".

Also that recent King Arthur movie with Kiera Knightly, it was so bad that at one stage I was sure fighters in the battle scenes were dropping dead after hearing a really bad bit of script. Yet many loved it. Fell asleep at Watchmen.

The 13th Warrior!! My brother loves this. I bought it for him after the video got destroyed.

Legends of the Fall another excellent one there that my mate wouldn't sit through >.<

Good call on Picnic at Hanging rock, I saw that film when I was a kid and it has haunted me ever since.

Another I'd like to add is Kingdom of Heaven (Director's cut). I can totally see how the theatrical release wasn't well received, but the Director's cut is absolutely fantastic.

Action movies in general get shot down by most people I know. I mean sometimes its just nice to switch the brain off and watch something that does not require much though. After all I go to the cinema sometimes just to be mildly entertained and have a laugh.
    On that note,

    Taken
    Push
    Shoot 'em up
    DOA
    Transporter
    The Condemned
    The Art of War
    Romeo Must Die

A couple of other Jet Li, Jacke Chan and JCVD flicks also. Arnie and Sly's were all too popular.

I don't care if my friends don't like them, they are a bit of fun and I laugh at the ridiculous stuff.

what the hell was i thinking leaving that out, i blame it on the hangover and brain not functioning right, total recall would be the 2nd best out of the bunch, with running man at no 1.
