Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I bought a new shock to fit to my jeep but i noticed that when i pulled it in and out a few times , i only got resistance one way.Is this normal because i replaced the bushings on the old shocks recently and one of the shocks had resistance both ways and the other only had resistance one way.Am I making any sense?
Did I buy a faulty shock or am i doing something wrong?

The new shock is faulty, it should damp both ways. Bring it back to the shop/supplier.

Shocks should really be replaced in pairs

Some shocks only damp on the compression stroke.

Why? There are two schools of thought on this.

New vs old will have different levels of damping and may fail nct on an imbalance.

you may need to prime the shock first.

Push the piston in and let it push itself out several times until there is not noise like bubbles inside. Puch it in against a wall is probably the easiest way.

and yes you should change both at the same time. NCT detects the difference between the two shocks. Replacing one may have greater resistance on one side than the other.

You may be lucky though - the difference allowed is about 30% I think.
