Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Adding a wireless router

Will that thing ever die? Best router ever made.

No you dont need a crossover cable. Crossovers are only used to make a direct connection from one PC to another. Just get a plain old Cat5e.

The back of the linksys has 4 Lan Ports and 1 modem port. You existing cable goes in the modem port and your PC connects to Lan1. The Router does all the rest.

I dont like the Linksys USB device. It hogs a fair bit of CPU. A lot actually. If you want your PC to be wireless instead get a proper PCI card.

Nice one for that but i dont think i will put the pc wireless as the connection coming into the house is right next to the pc so its handy run to modem and pc . so uncessary for it to be wireless . Im picking up a laptop next weekend so the wireless is for that . Nice one .
One last question i know i probably doesnt make any difference but under the modem in the description it says Mbps 802.11g, WPA, QoS, 4P switch, Linux
i presume linux or no linux it works fine with windows 7 or any version of windows?

The Linux is more of a reference to the ability to install your own firmware. The non-Linux ones use vxWorks instead. Either should work fine with Windows.
