Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Why not ie8?

There are no cons. IE6 is an abortion of a browser. If you insist on Microsoft then upgrade to IE7 or 8. Preferably go for Chrome, Firefox or Opera though

its slightly more secure, has anti phishing features pop up blocker, download warnings

    it has tabbed browsing

ie6 might still be a bit faster on a netbook

google chrome or firefox might also be good options

IE6 is actually much slower at rendering most new web stuff. Most websites use so much Javascript now that it forces IE6 to a crawl.

IE6 is a horrible browser, both in performance, standards compliance and security. At the very least the OP should upgrade to IE8, although you should consider a move to Chromo or Firefox like others have said.

    ActiveX, the System Administrators friend...

Using Firefox or Chrome or whatever does not make your system any more secure though.
IE's problems run deeper than that. Should be a bit nippier though:D

    thanks for the feedback..

Im just being lazy sticking with ie6..better the devil u know! I believe ie7 may offer better security.
I dont think ie8 is available to XP, only vista?

I may look into using chrome, seems popular!

cheers again.. im not very technical minded..

IE8 is available to XP. IE7 is a lot slower in my opinion.

Firefox is more popular than Chrome. No harm trying both anyway.

I was in the same situation with an XP machine running IE6, I finally upgreaded to IE8 10 days ago and it's a big improvement.

Chrome seems faster tbh. At least for heavy JS based sites it is anyway. Opera does have a raft load of cool features though. If Opera matched the speed of Chromes V8 then I'd switch back in no time.

    Try the "Turbo" feature?
For some older systems, makes a big difference. :)

I was going by the off topic No Off-Topic Advocacy in the charter otherwise i would defiantly have recommend opera. ;)

OP even if you try Firefox, Chrome, Opera or all of them update to IE8 as well.
Some parts of windows will still use the IE rendering engine and its best to keep browsers up to date, and IE6 needs to go away :)

OP always install all of the windows updates

even if you don't use IE
