Finally got around to posting pics of (most of) my collection, the pics are a bit big to put all of them here but they're at

Here's a pic of a lot of it though:

Wow, some very nice stuff there! I'm loving the boxed virtual boy, Famicom + Disk system and the little old school crt :D

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,890 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Bet you are afraid to use that disk system in case the elastic belt goes! I wish I could post up my collection but it's juat a complete mess at the moment. Most of the stuff is in the attic with a bunch of consoles left in a plastic container and games littered absolutely everywhere.

Afraid? Try terrified! Have the box with the inserts and all, will probably pack it back away at some point, scared of even knocking it!

I don't think the belt is too hard to replace if you know what to do though.

Ima tidy my room today and if I can find my camera (which has run away somewhere) I'll pop up pics.

I don't think the belt is too hard to replace if you know what to do though.

It's actually a total bitch. Being nintendo it's a custom proprietary part that's a different size to most elastic bands and standard elastic bands don't have the correct elasticity for the system to work. You'll see a load of the disk systems lined up in shops in Akihabara awaiting repair.

Some very tasty stuff there ghostchant, Do all the Nes's and dreamcasts work or is that how many you've gotten through!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,750 ✭✭✭ghostchant

My original NES needs a new 72-pin, though the other two work fine (although most of the NES games need a good clean!)

And the Dreamcasts all work fine, 2 are PAL, one is US and the black R7 is Japanese. Need more tv cables though, only have one (excluding crappy rv cables). Will have to invest in a vga box, or at least a couple of RGBs.

So I finally found the camera and took some pics of my games. Just games here that are on my shelves. Still have to photograph consoles and more games. I'm trying to keep a sort of photo list of what I have. (Warning, close the page now if you're on dial-up! :P)

Random accessories on top of the shelves:

    SDC10599.jpg

Dreamcast + PS1 (the loose carts on top are Sonic, Altered Beast and another Sonic for the MD and The jungle book, Rocky and Spiderman for the Master system.)

    SDC10602.jpg
    SDC10604.jpg

    PS2:

    Xbox 360:

    SDC10608.jpg
    SDC10609.jpg
    SDC10610.jpg
    SDC10611.jpg

PSP, Xbox and the loose carts here are: Pokémon stadium, Michael Owens WLS 2000, Goldeneye and Wave Race 64 for the N64 and Street Fighter 2 for the SNES.

    SDC10612.jpg
    SDC10614.jpg

    Wii + Gamecube:

    SDC10615.jpg
    SDC10616.jpg

Saturn, Master System, MD and DS. The Game in the CD case is Christmas Nights:

Ok I'll post photos of my collection. The these ones are from about 3 years ago. After that I'll show the sad state of my current collection:

    TheShrine.jpg

Used to hook up the consoles to the hifi since the scart leads I have have 2 sound coming out of them. When the parents are out SotC full blast was amazing.

    collection6.jpg

    collection5.jpg

    collection4.jpg

    collection3.jpg

    collection2.jpg

    collection1.jpg

And the back of the TV:

    TheHorror.jpg

It's quite a bit bigger now.

Unfortunately I was thrown out of my games room so my parents could extend the kitchen so this is the sorry state of affairs now with most of my collection in the attic:

    SANY1011.jpg

Loads of games, wallets, phones, guitar tab sheets and eh... police academy. Also buried under there on top of the cupboard is a saturn and Wii.

    SANY1012.jpg

The floor is the only place I have for my PS2, PS3 and 360

    SANY1013.jpg

The other side of the room is a box filled with cables, controllers, an N64, GC, Dreamcast, and Xbox.

    SANY1014.jpg

There's tonnes of games and DVDs in here but I can't get the thing fully open anymore with out moving the cupboard.

    SANY1015.jpg

Just to lighten the mood some merchandise. The NES controller is actually a snazzy wallet.

So the lesson to all you retroheads out there:

    Don't live with your parents.

Oh wow, after all these years I finally got into retr0's room (virtually). Ka-ching! *leaves boards*

I'm loving the V-Saturn, very nice indeed. I must note down most of those games and buy them someday :D

Police Academy Box Set, two copies of Goldeneye, and an United fan to boot?

I'll post my collection soon, but it's nothing special and I've managed to fit it inside a big Dell box and a vacumn-cleaner box along with my DVD & CD collection.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,890 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Yeah two copies of Mario Kart 64 as well since I got all the N64 games in two different lots :) You also missed the dublin gaa jersey I'm wearing that you can see in the mirror. You wouldn't make a good Bladerunner :P

Eh I wouldn't buy all the games I own atavan halen, just like any collection there's some stinkers in there!

Seeing as everyone's taking photos...there's been a new development in my own games room. Got rid of that damn double bed! (Well, folded it up and put it in the corner). There's so much space there now. Even with the air hockey table.

    Some handhelds -

    Neo Geo Games -

Now have space for another Tesco crate (I love tesco crates!)

Most played Megadrive games. Mainly shooters -

    Interesting PS1 stuff -

Didn't know what snes stuff to photograph. Most of the games are fairly common like Super Metroid, Mario Kart etc. Following few are interesting though. Final Fight guy was never put on general sale. You could only rent it out -

    Few Saturn shooters -

And FFS that pic of "of my rarer/hard to find Megadrive games" was just to really piss me off wasnt it?!

And some nice PS1 games there, I need to get vib ribbon

OH yeah, what are the 2nd and 3rd games in that megadrive pic, well one is the ram cart isnt it?

The second one in is a Mega Key import adapter. It's the one with region dip switches on the back. It's the only import adapter that works 100% for all games on all consoles. Really hard to come by. Took me years to get one.

Funnily enough, there was one on ebay this morning. :D

The third cart in lets you play Mega CD games from any region. I got it on adverts from our very own Augmerson. Also **** hard to find. Unfortunately it only works on the Mega CD 1. So I've put it aside until I get one of those.

Thought you might appreciate that picture anyway ;) Had a good few more I could have put in but my camera lens is only so wide.

Well since i have a MC1 I can always take it off your hands :P

I forgot to say, I might be going to England next month for a family thing, I'll be in London and I know theres no fantastic retro shops there but I'll be going to Bristol for a day or 2 so is there anything worthwhile to go to down there retrowise?

Just check out all gamestations, cash converters, other pawn shops and attend any markets or car boot sales that are on. You can usually get some awesome stuff in gamestation. Check out all other games shops and electronics shops while your at it. You never know, they might be doing a clearout :D

Augmerson - now THAT is a sweet setup. Well done man. I love the railway green shelving too :D

One gripe though, I noticed some games organised on your shelves that dont have their sequels beside/under/over them....why? Why would you do this? :(

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,162 ✭✭✭Augmerson

Haha, thanks man. Actually I used to arrange my collection like that, but it was becoming kind of OCD. Everytime I would play a game I'd move something on the shelf and then spend ages fixing it, now I just put the stuff I'm currently playing towards the top of the pile/shelf.

    Nice!

As much as I dislike American Snes carts, I love how they stack up like that. Looks great. If I tried that with PAL/Jap carts I'd have a big broken mess on the floor.

    Hmmm,
I wonder where his unboxed N64 carts are kept?
I bet he has cunningly hidden them in some dark and secret place, perhaps using some sort of case of exquisite craft, made of a rare and mysterious jewel-like crystal, that gleams with some other worldly power!

Oh, no wait, he just fecked them in a box :(

I keep alot of stuff in shoeboxes, like say extra controllers, leads and cables plus memory cards and anything extra like lightguns. There is alot of boxes so I had to start putting names on them.

I'm guessing you are a Front Mission fan. I see FM4 there and only a front mission fan would go out of their way to import it.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,162 ✭✭✭Augmerson

I've actually only played the first 15 minutes of FM4 but really liked it, been meaning to come back to it for some time now, I picked it up in Vancouver. I played Armoured Core 3 which is an action game with robot mecha and I liked that idea so it's sort of why I wanted to play this, but as FM4 is like an RPG, the level of customization, it's just so much deeper and the story is alright. I had FM3 as well but never played it and ended up selling it on I think.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,890 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Front Mission 4 is probably the weakest of the series. You really shouldn't have sold Front Mission 3, it's by far the best game in the series and I loved it! Front Mission 5 seems to be a return to form but you need to patch the japanese version since it never got a western release.

    No :P Just semi-famous people.

Yeah, it is one of my least used consoles. I rarely feel the need to play some Forza 1 or Halo or anything else on the box.

What a pity, I'm the same myself tbh, although I sometimes hear Crimson Skies and Steel Battalion caling me, I rarely respond, then I have to listen to it weeping.
The PS2 tells it to stop being such a girl and it soon stops though, the PS2 rules my gamesroom with an iron fist, all the other consoles are afraid of it, except the Vectrex, it knows it's cool and just ignores it

It's sad really, isn't it? So many games, consoles and hardware just gathering dust.

If I could go back in time and give it all to my 8 year old self I would.

If my 8 year old self had an Xbox or a PS2 i'd probably end up being abducted by the CIA and quizzed, anally probed and maybe even tortured.
Mostly because the year I was 8 was 1980 and the technology would seem hopelessly futuristic,
"Quickly Kowalski, put down the pong machine and see this, it says "Geometry Wars", hmm, press start....... AH MY EYES! THEY'RE BURNING!, THEY'RE BURNING!"
