Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

PFAI Player of the Year 2009. Thoroughly well deserved and hopefully he'll be around for a few more years to come.

In the mean time, Conor Powell takes the much more important young player of the year award ;)

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Very good finisher.

League has had some very good strikers in the last decade. He's up there with them.

Twigg deserved it. Plenty of great goals during the season.

    What were the shortlists?

Did John Russell get a mention from Galway Utd?

Absolutely shocking that Brian Murphy didn't get nominated for player of the year.

    Chris Turner:confused: You're having a laugh!

Stephen Ireland nominated for overseas player of the year? HAving a laugh surely. If he won he probably couldnt collect the award, might have a funeral to attend that night.

I'd agree on the Murphy one alright however looking at the team of the year I can only assume Sives isn't there as he only played half the season. The best defender in the league!

Why? He is one of the best Irish players playing in the UK. His decision not to play for his national team doesn't factor in to this.

Was Stephen Ireland not Man City's player of the year last year?

So the last time this award was given out was last November. So between last november and this November we ignore everything apart form the current moment and the past couple of weeks do we?

McAllister was robbed of the first division prize.

Davy Davy Davy Davy McAllister, he's hard as f**ck, he's hard as f**k.:D

Of course it does. He was nominated for an award by an association he wants nothing to do with. He's also laughably accused the management of the national team that they only pick Dublin players.

The guy is a joke, regardless of his footballing ability.

But the awards are about footballing ability? So Cristiano Ronaldo didn't deserve player of the year last year, just cause he is a bit of a tosser? Grow up.

Agree with that. I don't think he'll hang around the League of Ireland too long. He's better than any central defender in Scotland and it won't be long before he gets a Scottish call up.

Ah ok. So when it comes to awards you only look at the most recent weeks and ignore everything else a player has done through an entire year.

Some people on this board baffle me at times...

    Pfft, Brian Shelley ftw

Brian Shelley isn't even in the same league as Sives!!!

Again the concept of year long and not season long as determined by some football leagues completely passes you by. Some trophies in particular the ones handed out in Jan/Feb are for the previous calendar year, that's Jan - Dec and not August - Feb.
